i've always loved amsoil. i drive about 40 miles to get it. but its worth it IMO. not only does my car run better but my fuel economy has gone up like 3 mpg by just switching.

How often are you changing the oil with the AMSOIL?

i've ran it the most 10k miles. i usually change it at 7k though. no problems really. just make sure you get a really nice filter. im using the mobil1 extended peformanec oil filter which i hope is at least as good as the regular mobil1 filters.

the most i'd run moibl1 is at 3k miles.

with that said, wanderingpinoy, have you ever though about buying a case from their online store and getting it shipped to your house??

if you think aobut this. i said the most i'd run mobil1 is 3k. i usually run amsoil for 7k and i still feel safe.

so amsoil would be the equivalent of 2 mobil1 oil changes.

lets say i spend 25 bucks on mobil1. so 2 oil changes thats 50 bucks on oil alone.

i spend 32 on amsoil and it will last me 7k. and i don't get my hands dirty as often.

so you save money right there. then there's other things like my increase in fuel economy which keeps putting money in my pocket.

I prefer a local store first, but I may just give up and order from them after all. I actually have no problem with the cost, as I've been using Royal Purple, but switched back to Mobil1 (I honestly didn't see any differences). Besides, I'm pretty anal about my maintenance schedule, and change the oil religiously at 3K.

Have you guys tried the Amsoil filter?

i haven't. the good thing about the amsoil filter is that it can last 10k miles. nobody else says that.

butif you look online for tests on oil filters, it will show that the mobil1 and k&n filters test better for regular 3k mile intervals.

.

wow. 7k? even with the best oil filter out there, I wouldn't trust that it will filter most of the metal/dirts stuff on the oil that goes all over your engine again and again.

whats better to get?

100% Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil (ASL)

or

Extended Life 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil (XLF)

Then..

Mobil 1 Extended Life Filter

or

OEM Filter

or

AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter (ne one know our filter# ?)

pinoyesv6

I use ASL and the mobil1 extended life oil filter.

the XL formula's drain interval is at 7500 miles whereas the ASL formula is at 25k.

the ASL formula is a about a dollar more than XL formula.

i haven't tried the XL formula so i couldn't tell you if its bad or good.

as for filters, i've read a few oil filter comparisons and like the oem mobil1 and k&n have almost the same rating. the mobil1 filter has a lil bit higher flow rate than the k&n and the oem filters but then thats because the oem and k&n have a slightly better filtration quality. the amsoil filter was more designed for long life so it usually has a bigger canister and a sslightly less filtration quality.

Yeah but will it last the 7,000 miles? as said by Pinoy, he changes his oil every 7k miles with the mobil filter....

I ran AMSoil with the same filter for over 15,000 miles each oil change in my 8G Galant. The car ran better and had better mpg at 96,000+ than it did at 30,000 or even 1000 miles. AMSoil is used is police and taxi fleets for well over 25,000miles, however they do regularly change the filters (though you really don't need to).

Btw, I found out recently that my Galant was rebuilt and is still running with well over 100,000 miles the motor was still useable because I used AMSoil.
