I know the hoods and trunks on our 8G are heavy son-of-a-beeches, but are their FG/CF parts really that much lighter? Are the currently available CF hoods/trunks completely carbon-fiber, or just overlaid carbon-fiber on a fiberglass shell?

95% of the hoods out there are carbon fiber overlayed on fiberglass to save money. As far as weight goes, way lighter than stock for sure.

to my knowledge, nobody makes any 100%cf body parts for our cars. like sinsere said, its usually fiberglass with a layer of cf on top to make it look pretty.

yeah, that's how my ViS hood is. i think it has 7 layers of cf on the top...anyhow, as far as weight, they are incredibly light. i held my entire hood up balanced on two fingers...
