You know those air freshners you hang in your car, shaped like a tree or a leaf? They sell them in new car scent. It doesn't really smell like a new car but it does smell nice. Vanilla smells nice too.

yes, i bought a very effective spray from autozone. One or 2 sprays will make the car smell like new for about 2 days. My galant really smells bad when i dont use it and i think its because I have cloth seats. My theory is that when you have leather seats, and other people fart in your seats, the smell bounces off the leathre and it smells temporily in the car but eventually goes away. however, when you have cloth seats, smell of the fart goes in the seats and stays there. Just my 2 cents.

Mine is just the opposite. If I haven't used the car all weekend and then when I finally open the door, it smells like a new car again. But when I turn on the vent.. phew! Smells like my socks. My only remedy when this happens is to turn on the AC.

I steamclean my seats every other month.. even though nobody sits in the back... keep out the hidden smells in the cloth..

To get new car smell.. goto the dealer for a test drive and swap out the rear seat.. bottom part) and the headrests.. should get a partial new car smell.

first of all, that new car smell, partly has to do with the car being new. new fabric new plastic etc etc. but most of it has to do with the leather and especially the vinyl. vinyl like in the dash has to breath and emits a smell which every1 calls a new car smell.

as for the cabin filter, i just made mine out of some cut up house AC filter. works just fine. another alternative is to go to the dealer and pay i think 40 dollars for the filter (not worth it) or just wash the old one.

as for how to access it. open the glovebox, pinch the sides and remove the glove box. then you will see i think its either 2 or 4 brass screws. remove them and remove the lil tray for the filter...

Where can you get your seats steam cleaned? how much does it cost, and how effective is it?

If your vent smells bad, you can put your car on high heat for a couple of minutes follow by cool air with no AC. Sometimes it's the mold/mildew from condensation from the AC usage that causes vents to smell bad. The heat usually will kill that smell but while you are doing this, you probably should be out of the car with all the windows rolled down, lol. You don't want to add sweat to the smell of your car. :lauging:

personally i get the cherry squares and put them either under the seats or in the slots in the front doors or in the pouches in the back of the front seats.

You gotta get the little Califonia Scents joints.Santa Barbera Berry is the best one, but Cherry is off the rip too. Dont get the gel kind though, it doesnt last as long. Get the can with the squares in it. :mg:

yeah i use the new car scent too. i use the big spray bottle one. i use about 10-15 pumps and spray it all over the fabric/seats,and floors mostly. then i quickly close the doors and leave it sit for an hour. don't do that before you drive you might get high  . do that about 3 times (once an hour) and it should stay smelling new for a while.

i had that wierd mold smell too. the ac heat killed it.

my favorite scent is my squash scent . its expensive though. i have the japanese/ mirage/ cassete spencer one. i got it at a performance shop. i paid like 15 for it. and the refills are like 10.
