Battery drained though battery indicator did not light up

hello everybody, my battery was drained yesterday while travelling from work going to my house. At first my stereo just died, then the instrument console dimmed, upon reaching my garage the engine died and i was not able to start it again, i bought a new battery and was able to go to work, but again the new battery was drained also, i suspect the alternator, but not sure, usually the battery light indicator lights up when the alternator is defective, but this one does not light up the battery just drained. That's a very odd occurance. My battery died on me in the past, but I never had an experience such as that. I simply just couldn't start the car. I think you have an alternator problem. I never heard of a battery dieing out while the car is in motion.

I don't even know if that's possible.

take the altnator out, take it to autozone and have it tested
