Well, ive had my Galant since March 04.....and yes it is still bone stock. Seems like everytime i save money, something happens. From flat tires, to crazy ass deer, to dumb-founded Mitsu techs, to a clueless blonde-headed biotch, to random acts of vandalism....my LadyRed has seen just about it all. Now ive got a job where im making some pretty good money, the only problem now is that im kinda losing motivation on investing more money into my Galant. Its got 67k on it, and ima need a new Altenator belt soon, along with some new plugs. My original plans were for a kit, air suspension, new set of wheels & tires, and a re-done interior. Now my main fear is that ill sink all this money into the Galant....and it will run horribly after it hits 100k on the speedo. And being that this is my only car, and i live in Upstate NY.....100k might come by the summer following this upcoming summer. For all you guys with the tricked-out Galants....how many miles do your cars have? Anybody pushin 150k yet???

well sorry for the pain u been thru but if u take care of the G maintanence wise you should have nothing to worry about. I have almost 140k miles on mine and I have no problems at all. I just do frequent oil changes, etc.

I got 130K and still runs good, just drove that car from CA to LV last week. I changed my timing belt (80K), changed throtle body and water pump... also change my brakes every year. Your car will run great as long you maintain it well.

i have 75, 76k on my v6 and nothing really out of the ordinary that i have had problems with. kept up with my normal maintenance schedule, if a problem was to occur i usually found it before it became a real problem. so far so good. *knock on wood*

U should check that out with a mitsu dealership. THere might be a recall on ur fuel pump. I had the same problem with mine. Turns out that some Galants have the fuel pressure set to high...this causes the clamp on the fuel line running to the engine to fail and come undone. So def check that out...might be a chance to get some free work done.

Well, my 8G is nearing 70K, but I've got two `94 Mitsu's that both have well over 150. The 94 Galant is still a daily driver, and I was just slipping through traffic today thinking to myself "Damn, but you can be slick when you're in a good mood, GL."

Bought the 94 D a month ago to start "swapping" cars around while I put them "under the knife" so to speak. GL (94 Galant) is in dire need of a timing belt service. Something about the timing belt cover being broken and leaking oil. I've been making sure that the oil level stays where it needs to, and I'm preparing to drop about $1400 - $2000 into repair work alone on GL. Unicorn (94 D) is still a very handsome and sleek car in my opinion, even at 214K it drives out smooth as silk. I'm willing to put at least $3K into her, and plan to do some custom work.

Ghost (03 G) may not be pushing 100K+ yet, but if the other two are any indication, I plan to keep her for a long, long time. My wife has already stated it will probably be the 13 year old step daughter's first car. So I'm not going to be as quick to custom her. I'll let the step decide what she wants when that time comes.

Basically, any car that is maintained well will last beyond the manufacturers expectations. However, certain manufacturers have higher expectations than others, and GL has not exactly been taken care of properly before I got her. You couldn't give me the keys to a GM. I'd sell it and buy another Mitsu, if you get my drift.

Mmmm .... drift .... Starion

I could be wrong, but I think Bigmoneyday has over 200k on his G or dangerously close to it. If not, do a search because I have seen this topic before in the off topics I think.

141,000 here, and regular maintenance has paid for itself many times over.

My car has treated me awesome because I treat it awesome.

I've got a 2001 GTZ and never had any problems yet. I'm around 80K. I've ALWAYS kept up with the routine matience -- transmission flush, power steering fluid, oil changes, etc..

I can only speak of the two Ive had. The 4I had 55k when I turned it in. I had only one problem with that car (a dud alternator at 1000 miles). The V6 is young at 32k and no real problems yet. Remember to take into consideration that these cars are made to last if you maintain them. Ive had a Pontiac two Camaros, Volvo 240, D Neon and its because of their repairs and the look of the 8G that I chose to go Foreign. Japanese to be exact. I have not been disappointed yet.

There is no reason why your engine should not last at least 120k-150k with good maintenance. Have it professionally looked at by someone who can tell you wether to move on to something else or keep it.
Good Luck.

Timing belt, water pump, and t-stat every 60,000 miles.

Alternator-when it dies.

I've got 68,000 on my 03, not one problem.

I feel what you mean man.
After doing a few small thing to the G I realize I wont ever get to the point that guys like censee, kal, fastbagged, and bluestreak are at so I lost motivation as well to do anything to my car.

The most I MIGHT do is get some new suspension for it.
I am at about 85K on my G already and dont really see the need in the additional investment.
