us 7Gers suffer just as much as the 8Gers do with the fact of the bad placement of the dash like the a/c controls above the h/u.and then we have a secret cupholder in the dash.its rough for people like me becuz i have a two-face headunit so i got fold it up to fit a cup in and the cup will still sit at a 60 degree angle. and ive been looking towards a motorized screen for my dash and i was thinkin rearranging it so i dont have to struggle to reach the a/c controls behind the screen.just wondering if anyone has done something similar? nothin major

You should mold a cup holder into the change tray that is right in front of the armrest. Or you could put two cup holders inside the armrest. I dont have my change tray in right now and just sitting a drink in there, it fits pretty good. I have my factory pos cup holders but it is broke and the cups got in the way of my HU to begin with.

Cupholders are a problem in most cars nowadays.

im saving that change tray in front of the armrest for a switches panel im making.i was thinkin about the top of the armrest as well.but id have to make a little door for the top of it becuz i use my armrest all the time and i need my comfort.so maybe two cup-like pockets molded on the inside of the armrest hatch.then a door on the top of the armrest to cover them when im not using it.like the '95-'97 maxima's cupholder concept.but i dunno.im brainstorming.

i had a 98 max with that cupholder design... damn thing was hard to take out and clean and no cups actually fit there. better than the g's design though. ive given up getting to-go cups because of the holder design.

my stepmom used to have a volvo 940 in the early 90s (think it was a 93 or 94 model) with cupholders built into the glovebox lid's inner surface. they were just like 1/2" deep indentions but if that idea could be made deeper it might work. not many cups would fit in the 7gs opening though.

yea i hear ya. im gonna probably do this small project sometime during the summer when im definitely gonna need somewhere to put those huge 7-11 slurpie cups. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif and the 7G cupholder design cant even hold a foam cup straight without touching or leaning on my h/u

Bezzle, picture your center console where the shifter is. Now move toward the back of the car about 5 inches, see that little inlet thingy where you could put change and other small items? Right between the center glove compartment and the shifter. Yeah, that thing. You know you can pop that thingy right out and have a nice square hole in your console to work with. I figure if a place to put your beer is that important to you, with a little bit of work you can probably mold a cup-holder from another car to fit into there very nicely.
