So I was getting on 83 S. last night to go to Baltimore, and I punched it to feed into traffic (and then some). I made it up to about 90 in 3rd, and my car revved higher than I've ever heard. I looked down at the tach and I was pushing 7000 RPM. I immediately let off and the check engine light came on. I kept it under 2500 RPM until this afternoon when I read the code. P0302 (Missfire, Cylinder #2). I cleared the code and ran the car hard, but couldn't get it back (not even as a pending code).

So... here are my options:

1) Do nothing.
2) Check and clean the distributor cap and rotor.
3) Change the ignition cables and spark plugs.
4) Both 2 & 3.
5) Install a racing short block https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif
6) Something I didn't think of that you did.

What would you guys do?

It's an '03 w/ the 6G72 (hence the distributor), and 50K miles on it. The plugs and wires have never been changed.

2 and 3 then if worst come to worst your last option would be nice too.
