The rumor mill says the Galant RalliArt may hit dealers as early as March...
Pricing... no idea. My best guess, based on the assumed upgrades to the engine, suspension, and other trim, maybe $1500 to $2000 above the Galant GTS. :?

my guess would be some where between $28,000-30,000 about the same price range as the Altime SE-R but the car is definetly hot though, i wouldnt mind having one

I ask my friend at the Mitsu dealer and see what he knows.

Now this would be great for Mitsubishi - they need something now to compete with the Mazdaspeed 6, Altima SE-R, and Legacy.

Damn, I just bought my wife a new car....ah well, I hope 10K falls in my lap soon, maybe I'll get one of these if it's worth it, or Mitsubishi could screw it up again?

hmmmmm maybe I should start hanging out at the mitsubishi plant testing grounds with my camera, or at the plant managers house just incase they have a test vehical rolling around. It wouldn't be the first time I have seen mitsubishi prototype vehicals out on a test drive.

I talked with my friend at the dealership and he comfirmed that they will be produced and out by this late-summer it could be earlier too. As for pricing its going to be competitive he said around MSRP 31k-35k maybe more depends on Mitsubishi.

Considering that the 2006 Altima SE-R starts at $29,550, I think Mitsu should not price the Galant RalliArt above $31k. They'd be pricing themselves out of the market. In addition, I don't think many consumers would spend over $30k for a Mitsu, unless it's the Lancer Evolution...

Looks like they dropped the ball again on this one. Not even close to the concept Ralliart, IMHO. I do like the front a bit better than the stock 9G, reminds me a bit of the 380, but still no manual.

glantv699
02-08-2006, 05:20 PM
6 speed manual should definitely be an option, it would send that car to 60 in around 6 seconds...

Previous pictures I had seen of the concept had me really excited, now I'm just sorta giving a weak grin. Yes it's a great step up in the Galant lineup but I'm not seeing as much resemblance as I had hoped, the common result with concept cars versus final productions.

http://x.wieck.com/xMMNA/pvtn/2006/02/08/MIT2006020855850_pv.jpg

http://www.aicautosite.com/images/edphotos/previews/fullsize/2006-mitsubishi-galant-ralliart-front.jpg

Wheels are 18's they look like 19's on the concept, why can't 19's be an option...17's on the GTS have a hefty sidewall as it is, the 18's look merely standard, isn't the Ralliart an upgrade?

Hood vents on the concept, I liked them, guess Mitsubishi didn't, oh well, this isn't a huge detail.

Piece behind the chrome diamond in the girll doesn't match vehicle color, a touch reminiscent of the 02-03 8G...

Like many of you had said previously, where's the turbo? I think they did aim for more of the SE-R level but who knows maybe some nice performance parts will be offered later on.

Interior looks good...

http://x.wieck.com/xMMNA/pvtn/2006/02/08/MIT2006020856047_pv.jpg

Yes these are mostly aesthetic features of the vehicle so I shouldn't complain too much, I mean read the articles...200lbs trq. @ 2,000 rpms and putting out 258 toque @ 4500...these are some respectable figures.

they shouldn't even get peoples hopes up when they release concept photos, because the end product looks NOTHING like the concept...shit they could have at least kept the 6spd manual and the recaro seats

All any Concept Car is supposed to do is test the waters for a production version. Every Auto Company wants to see what the public would think of the cars. I think its beautiful! Much better than the 8G IMHO. Navigation, 258hp, 18" Wheels stock, Much better fit and finish than anyother Galant.

Has anyone here actually driven a 9G? A 9G GTS? Its a much better car than the 8G.

I'd buy it.

They are comfortable I'll give you that, but they do not hold anything against the 7g and 8g for looks. I'm not too sure how the 3.8L will hold up to the tuner market either...we'll see. Even so, it's taken 6 years to get a reliable turbo out for the 6G72....so, do the figuring on that one too.

Does anyone else besides me feel like kicking in that ugly ass grill they put on it? I don't care how much HP it has, it's still fugly. And who cares how comfortable the ride is, it won't feel good once you change the suspension to something better so it can handle worth a damn. 8G still rules.

I've driven the 9G GTS at the Mitsubishi test drive tour and I actually like it a lot. I agree, that external appearance wise, I still prefer the looks of the 8G, but it kinda grew on me.

There is already a lot of support now for the 3.8L due to all the hub-bub over the new 4G Eclipse - there are already at least 2 or 3 turbo kits already being developed for that engine.

If mitsu had made the Ralliart 9G a manual, then it could at least have competed with the Altima SE-R a lot better.

BigMike
02-13-2006, 11:28 AM
It's obvious that Mitsu isn't concered about competing with anyone, with the shitty versions of the cars they give us....for example the 8G 5spd, that they made 100 of, then switched to AT because they weren't sellin....

Don't come out with one car that has a 5spd and expect to sell the fleet...

evomk8

Wow, I'm a bit surprised by the acrimonious posts about the Galant RalliArt.
I would like to put my spin on this, if I may.
Per Mitsu statements at the Chicago auto show, the Galant RalliArt is only going to make up about 10% of all Galant sales (about 5000 units). This is remniscent of the 2nd gen Eclipse GST sales numbers, and they sold even fewer with the manual (hence no manual in the Galant). As such, Mitsu is not making terribly much money on this and, IMO, they deserve kudos for going ahead with the RalliArt anyway(considering their financial position).
In terms of the looks of the concept vs the production version, the three visual differences are the 19's, the grille, and the hood scoops... IMO, these differences are minimal and, quite frankly, the production version looks very similar to the concept. The hood sccops and 19's aren't there for cost reasons (same with the Recaros, CAI, Brembos...) and can be added for those who really want them. You got to remember, Mitsu has to price this right for the market so that they can sell these and still make at least a bit of money.
Now, don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see the 6-speed, the hood sccops, the recaros and Brembos make it onto the production version. The reality is that the car would have been out of its markertable price range with those features.
My suggestion is this, go test-drive the car once it is available. If you still don't like it, at least you will have valid reasons instead of "it's ugly", "shitty...", etc.

</div>

Wow, is that true? Does someone here own one of those cars? I have never heard of that.

For some reason, I figured Mitsu might be able to sneak Recaros and Brembos in and still keep the Galant price down, mainly because they already have a relationship with them in racing the Evo and that somehow they could pass those savings onto the customer. Wishful thinking.

I was hoping for a more dramatic styling change for the 9Gb Galant, because aparently the rear of the car will remain the same, which is fine, I think it looks good, but I never liked the nose, it was my least favorite view of the car. Its closer to the 380, but not quite enough. Hopefully it will be enough for everybody else, because we need help moving Galants.
