Coefficient of drag

I find it a little funny but how did they manage to get a lower drag on the Galant than the Eclipse? Doesn't a sports coupe normally have better numbers? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Meaning it's more aerodynamic? Like in a slipstream tunnel? That's interesting. But that doesn't necessarily mean a good thing unless you are striving for saving gas, lol. A car with less coefficient of drag with more downforce can hug the road better. Correct me if I'm wrong about that theory or if it has nothing to do with coefficient of drag.

IF u have less drag on ur car u do save gas as well as, ur ability to break the air around u while u drive or race. Downforce is acuumulated by the overall characteristics and/or the make-up of the vehicle and how air passes around it.. I guess thats why rice boyz have those huge aluminum Space shuttle spoilers on their car, even though they accumulate about 20% more drag from it because of the overall size, how dumb can they be to add it and it doesnt even work to their advantage..

Aye I know about that but I was just curious as to why the Eclipse is less aerodynamic https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif It looks sleeker than the Galant but ??? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif Kinda like BMWs I guess...looks great but above .30 8) The boxier looking Audis are under .30...maybe it's because of the car's underbody, who knows...

You pretty much got it. The underbody is often overlooked, but essentual in reducing drag. Also, specific angles on a cars exterior can reduce drag. The larger Diamante has a cd of only 0.28, the even larger Lexus LS430 has a cd of just 0.25. Underbody airflow management, that's all.
