Many of you who slam your cars must not actually drive them much. I got tired of destroying expensive stuff under my 8G and raised it up with some fat tires (stock 3KGT VR-4 size).

That ride height is great... exactly how my Evo sits and I love it. It's whatever you want... I enjoy a car I can actually drive as opposed to being worried about it scraping all the time. I've done both, practicality is better.

Talking about practicality and driving a 500hp car are two totally different ideas. You don't drive a 500hp car for practicality.

I would slam my G more, but when my VRG setup goes on, it would be quite literally several inches underground. Once it is not a daily ride it is getting slammed as far as possible, though I'll probably scrap the Megans for airride.

No, the car isn't slammed, I have quite a bit more adjustment if I'd wanted to. That wasn't my goal, but neither is practicality. Other than that, it still reasons that 500hp isn't practical.

All of you need to start a goddamn "Post a pic as your car sits now discussion" thread.

LESS TALKING, MORE PICS!

Yesterday was the local MN club's dyno day. In the pics you will see my car, an Omni (which put down 112hp on a very stingy dyno), my buddy Mark's Mirage-Evo III conversion, a Viper, some Subis and a few DSMs.

Wasn't talking to you... hence the latter quote.

And BTW, ever driven a car with a big turbo before? It's more than practical if you keep it under boost threshold. Actually my Galant is more timid than my Evo until 4000 RPM rolls around.

If you're talking about my car, actually, I am as slammed as my Teins are going to get. Ask anyone who's seen my car in person. It is LOW. I have ONE thread left on the perch. If that.

It doesnt look slammed cuz of the 15's. If I set the ride height as low as it is now when I had the 17's those 17's would be in the fender. and the car would probably be a little higher than it is.

with more rubber your car sits lower as the rubber sags. low profile tires are stiffer and don't sag. when i had my steelies on i wouldn't clear alot of stuff i can with my 17's

Then you changed the overall OD of the tire. Tires do not "sag" as you describe. They're specifically designed not to. What tires do under static load probably can't even be noticed with the human eye, unless they're under inflated. Lower profile tires may or may not have stiffer sidewalls. If they do, that only translates to increased stability when the car is moving. It doesn't mean the tire squishes less when the car is just sitting there.

The reason the stance changes, more often than not, is that you ARE changing overall tire diameter and not realizing it.

Actually a lower profile tire ALWAYS has a stiffer sidewall, thats just by design that the shorter tire has less flexibility. And yes, it may mean the tire 'squishes' less even when underinflated. I could deflate my 19s and still look not all THAT low on air pressure.

Not to draw out any more pointless discussion, but rather end it about tire OD, I'll refer people to my post regarding overall tire diameters in the corresponding forums. But I'll say no two tires have the same physical OD's. And also camber roll (when the wheels are turned) marginally affects ride height, so in essence, you are both wrong, and both right.

Yeah no two tires have the same OD's, but they're not 3" different (would make a 1.5" difference in ride height). The argument went dumb as soon as the claim was made that turning the wheels doesn't affect ride height...

That's low. Honestly I don't think it looks good, though. The 8G isn't exactly a VIP car. Even then VIP is about practicality.

It's VHT Nite Shades, done in 2 thin layers. Bubbles because of the mineral spirits not being completely evaporated when I went to spray the tails. They are actually kind of a pain on the X. I don't know about clearing them, but I kind of want them a tad darker. Maybe one more coat. The job on the Galant's tails has held up nicely. Do many people clear over the night shades? To me, it almost seemed like it stained the plastic a darker color. I attempted sanding it off my G's 3rd brake light because it was wrinkling, but it just wouldn't sand out. I'm almost thinking it's more of an etching spray than a coating.

I wet sanded mine with 400 grit and it sanded right off.

I would recommend using a less harsher grit though so you can just polish it off. When we were at the Foster Beach meet, Eric took his scratch remover/polish IIRC and he got the scratches from wetsanding off, but just to make it easier use a 600 or even an 800. it'll take longer to take it off but it wont scratch the lens as much. and remember to use a little bit of soap.

... Jigz, does it ever occur to you that I try this stuff? I was able to achieve a decent finish with the spray without even sanding last time, so I didn't this time.

I sanded my 3rd brake light until it was taking plastic off. No matter how much sanding I did, it was still a little darker than originally. The Nite Shades dyes the plastic and penetrates quite a bit. I'm pretty sure of that.

I'm pretty sure of that.

...TJ, I can't read minds how am I supposed to know you tried it? lol.

Actually, I think you are right though, cuz I look at these pics and it does look like the tails themselves got darker. I didnt sand the tails when i painted them either.

Wear does your front plate go? I saw a WR at the dealer last week and it has it mounted on the left side of the front bumber right below the headlight. It had a body colored bracket that kept is straight. Looked good.

HELL NO!! the only two parts that are gonna be chrome finish is the intake manifold and battery tray. only other two colors is your typical red valve cover and purple which will be the fuel rail something you would hardly see. it a small part so it wont stand out like the way that car has it.

Trust me Dave, both of my cars still have exceptional brake light visibility. That, and the Evo has like 10,000 separate brake lights anyway lol.

I actually recorded a vid of my Galant when I first did it just to make sure they were still bright enough. When I can be stopped and see red light behind my car, reflecting off other cars, they're still bright enough.
