So jaydeeone and Goosey2099 came out to jersey to help me and my wife out on friday...but due to lack of daylight and not the right tools, we ended up only takin the battery off...

Today, Jaydee came back out and helped me replace the thermostat...here is the new reservoir and the zip tied hose to fix the problem

that folks is the new JDM overflow...mounted he opposite side of the USDM models https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif and I am thinking about swapping all my hoses to clear so you can see the fluids, adds a nice touch and some color to the engine bay

Allan what's the reasoning of having fluid in the overflow?

Are the clear hoses strong enough to handle the heat from the coolant?

the clear hose came with the overflow, it was a replacement universal kit

Believe its so air doesnt get sucked back into the radiator.

because as the car heats and cools, the coolant expands and contracts much as 20% by volume. the system must push coolant into the tank for the heat and expansion, and be able to pull it back in when it cools and contracts.

is it safe to open your oil cap while the engine is running?

I did and the car idled funny. I think that it has something to do with vaccum pressure.
