I don't like the green of my guage bezel in my 03.. does anyone know if I will have any problems switching it out with a black one from a 99-01? I'd rather not get the idiglo (reverse guages) yet.. maybe when I can find one that looks good to me I will.. but the green just don't do it for me... :orangeno:

IMO the hardest thing to switch out to the black faces is that you have to remove the needles. removing the needles isn't hard at all but the possible side effects can be a pain in the ass. some possible side effects could be, A breaking the cluster or B living with a cluster that fives false readings

Why, trying to reduce your Odometer reading? https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

from my understanding the reading on any OD comes from the ECU but I could be wrong.. that would be nice though cuz i got an o3 with almost 69000 https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

the OD comes from the cluster itself.

with that said, there aren't too many 99-01 clusters with low miles on them. chances are you'll be putting a cluster with more miles than u had before.

and if u did find it, you'd have to do all that paperwork for it to be legal for use in your car. ie. making sure u don't get hit with odometer fraud

You can actually run a 99-01 cluster on a 02-03. The main think is to just swap out your odometer modules from your original to the replacement.

See:
https://www.thegalantcenter.org/viewt...pic.php?t=12500 ('https://www.thegalantcenter.org/viewtopic.php?t=12500')

Your other option is to just get black face gauges from:
http://www.speedhut.com ('http://www.speedhut.com')
http://www.speedhut.com/el_detail.asp?cata...umber=65&bhcp=1 ('http://www.speedhut.com/el_detail.asp?catagory=MITSUBISHI&auto_number=65&bhcp=1')

along with a bezel to cover up the light blue/green. You will also need to cover up the area around the turn signals with some tint.

just buy a cluster I have one laying around.. Then take the two little screws off the OD box and the strap that holds it. Then take your OD box out and put in it the 99 model one. I took a 99 black bezel and put it in mine so on my gauges i didnt need one off ebay... I also used some other parts out of the 99 on it... And no not the OD Box it had 98k on it..

but thats your best bet if you dont want custom gauges and like the 99 ones.

I would send you the one i have but alot is missing. I have the BLACK gauges tho... So if you want to try to do this know its only a 45.00 fix for a new cluster off ebay then I will ship you the gauges for cost of shipping and 5 bucks.
