It sounds like a lot for something you can do yourself. Except for maybe the allignment.

......no. install the springs yourself....take the car in for an alignment, save yourself about $280

is it true that most autozones rent out a spring compressor, then give the money back when u return it??

i've done it twice through autozone, then once through pep boys, then i finally just never took one back https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif they give you a full reimbursement, even tax

If you bring in the springs for them to install yes absolutely reasonable. They have to make money somehow. Probable 2-3 hours labor plus alignment. If you are mechanically inclined enough you can tackle that job yourself. Its easier and quicker having a professional shop take care of it.

i thouhgt $200 is already too much for spring installation. and alignment costs around $60 at Sears.

$60 for a toe set, I'd recommend a professional shop that does lowered cars more often.

$200 is pretty steep. my super-mechanic (coz he can do anything!) did my springs for $80..he's gonna do my shocks probably in a month..same price.

I am being quoted $160 for springs install and $69 for alignment = about $225. total
$300+ sounds a little steep, keep looking..

In NY Prices, Springs would run you $45 per spring... 180 for all four. and the alignment is about $75 for a total of $255 (N.Y. PRICES!!!!) A few bucks over that would still be pretty good...but not no $300+

since you're asking, i'm assuming you don't have the mechanical inclination to do it yourself.

See what happens is, shops see that you don't know much about it and take advantage of that. I've overpaid for stuff tons of times...but i've learned. Good luck.

i'd just go to the auto parts store and just rent one there. they give you all of your money back.

reason being. i love harbor freight, don't get me wrong. but you and I and everyone else knows that they don't have the best quality tools. and yea, a spring compressor is something you wouldn't want to joke around with. buying a spring compressor at harbor freight to me is like buying a heart from a guy who has it in a cooler in the trunk of his car waiting for someone who wants a heart transplant.

Swapping springs is not all that hard. you just have to be careful. I have done it several times(mostly for the fact they they charge way too much to have it done profesionally)I agree, get a spring compressor from an autozone and pepboys. depending on where you live it would be a wise idea to inspect the tool before you leave. they have policies about returning busted or broken tools(ie you pay for it!), so it is always a good idea to cover your 6. Aside from that be careful, take you time the first time around, and good luck
