My check engine light's been on for about 2 weeks now, I brought it to a guy and he did the diagnostic check and found that the problem is that my oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. So, of course, its like $200 for it so he says (I have an 02 G). However, I know better, and know that I could easily get that cheaper from somewhere else, plus my friends are good with that sorta shit.

What I need to know is, what is recommended to get as a replacement? I mean, I was lookin on ebay to see prices, and came across this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MITSUBISHI-...sspagenameZWDVW ('http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MITSUBISHI-GALANT-98-03-OXYGEN-SENSORS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33557QQitemZ798 6255585QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW') -- Bosch O2 Sensor, $80 shipped. Ok, so that sounds good.. but then I go check autozone.com... http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCa...7EOXYGEN+SENSOR ('http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=C001&UserAction=performSearch&Parameters=Auto+Store%7C%7EREGULAR+PARTS+LOOK+UP%7 C%7EOXYGEN+SENSOR') and I see that there are different types, some have more wires than others, varying prices... etc. I need to know, what's what and what is it that I need to get?

Lookin at that $30 Arvin is pretty tempting.. lol.. but I dont wanna get some shit that'll just bust on me.

Also, I do not know if the sensor is located before the catalytic converter, or after. I thought there was only one 02 sensor in my engine (i4), and if that is the case then why are there 2 different kinds that you can get, unless it differs on the V6??

Any help is much appreciated https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

There are two O2 sensors on your G. On on the factory header and one after the cat.

Ok then, so how do I figure out which is the one that needs to be replaced? Or am I gonna have to bring it back to the diagnostic stuff in order to know?

I say you take it to Autozone and they can do the reading for you for free. If you don't have the time then I can do it at the meet for you and tell you which one it is that's going bad.

Ok, I'm gonna head over to autozone now to figure out which one needs to be replaced. Once I do that tho, I still need to know which is best to get as a replacement (and I have no intentions of believing the people at autozone because they just want the most money out of me). Lookin at this, http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker/?UseC...RTER&PageSync=1 ('http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker/?UseCase=C001&UserAction=answerRequiredQuestion&Parameters=%7C%7ESENSOR+LOCATED+BEFORE+CATALYTIC+C ONVERTER&PageSync=1') what would be the best choice? I'm likin that $30 one, I dont feel like wasting so much money on a damn 02 sensor.

You could just install an O2 simulator for about $10. While it may help kill the ozone layer, just remeber we never signed the Kyoto protocol.

I say do it!

lol too late

I just got the bosch 02 sensor, it was like $85 after taxes.

Printout from autozone:

TROUBLESHOOTING P0135

The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the heater circuit for oxygen sensor 1 in bank 1. (oxygen sensor 1 is closest to the cylinder head before the catalytic converter. While oxygen sensors 2 & 3 are located further downstream and are typically mounted in or after the catalytic converter) (bank 1 identifies the location of cylinder #1, while bank 2 indentifies the cylinders on the opposite bank)

I got the universal 02 sensor, which means I'm gonna have to splice some wires.. hopefully this won't be too much of a pain in the ass to change.

Splice the black wires one by one so you don't confuse them.
