The white with blue letters looks nice, but the blue with the white letters is just plain sexy. What was your strategy for doing the letters?

The Godfather

painters tape and exactO knife.... it honestly looks ALOT cleaner in the photo it looks a little rought but should be ok when i put um on.... the whit with blue letters is a whit base coat with the blue painters tape

Remember when you but the valve cover back on use a new gasket and use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts down. The bolt are supposed tightened to a certain amount. For some reason my car didnt come with a heat shield.

What type of paint did you use?

The Godfather

dupli color engine enamel tested to 500 degrees

AVERAGE

500? is that going to be enough? Especially for the heatshield?

nope
the clear will discolor even if the paint doesn't burn off.

it might take a while, just wait until you spend an afternoon in traffic on a hot summer day.

i'll have to say it looks nice though

Go ahead and hang those items on your garage wall as decorations, go buy another valve cover/heatshield, have them powerder coated to the color of your choice. At least the heatshield. Valve cover should be fine in the heat for awhile, but the heatshield stands no chance.

that looks great. I'm looking at doing mine soon. That color combination is cool. Now you gotta do some more painting on that engine bay so it looks up to par.

Great work though.

I like the color looks real clean.

little blue
04-27-2006, 01:17 PM
looks good, but you should have went with a color that matches the rest of the car. imo

well he has a blue theme goin in the trunk so it fits...

once you clean up the rest of that engine bay, maybe add some more color it'll be lookin great, definitely a nice start

just be careful and don't flood everything with blue though, too much just makes it all look fake, those are some metal and solid working parts in there, not toys haha
