painting and sanding interior

i was wondering whats the procedure to paint the mid-console. where the cup holders and armrest and shift knob are. not the silver/wood grain trim.

600 grit ok? or do i need to go up to 1000-2000? what else do i need to prep it?

600 wet should be fine.. You also need to search for some Bulldog. Its an adhisive promotor..

I use it for after painting sanding. I also use it for some sanding on spot jobs also...

1000 grit is fine for paints to bite into.. Its really not needed to go that far up on the papers, some say 1000 grit on base coats will peel..

I myself use a 2k primer on the parts. this gives paints something to bite into and gives off a better finsih. Paints dont like to bite into plastics alone. or bare metals...


Maybe you guys can ask the bosses of the site to make a paint Section.. Some kind of Ask the Painter stuff.. Even try to trick me see how smart I really ams.......

(wet) color sanding clearcoat before you compound and polish.... haha They're learnin me good John.

dont forget you want a good blend on the spot, if not youll have issues...

I also use 1000 for burning in Blends...

I am so good at this I never even have to buff my blends...
