Well, Peter is sitting right next to me...here are the pics from his Mugen Lip install we did earlier today. I really like the way it came out.

Enjoy..
Here are the tools used.
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/402000-402999/402847_272_full.jpg

This is how we screwed it onto the center vent. We pre-driilled all the holes to prevent cracking.
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/402000-402999/402847_256_full.jpg

To melt the area where the small vents are at, we used the wooden planks to press in toward the bumper as we heated the area evently. Try not to keep the gun in the same area because it will make the lip bubble up. After you heat while applying pressure, keep the pressure on the lip onto the bumper and pour the water on it to cool it fast. Don't let go, until the lip is cold and in the shape that you want it.

This is how we held it in place after molding it onto the bumper...

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/402000-402999/402847_254_full.jpg

This is how it looked before cutting and melting the ends...
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/402000-402999/402847_257_full.jpg

After cutting...
http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/6/web/402000-402999/402847_259_full.jpg

Before bending, we cut an triangle into the to of the lip to allow it to bend flushly. We also cut the horizontal lip under the lip to prenvent it from bulging up at the bottom.

How it needed to be bent...

yeah, it seems that the mugen style looks closely resemble like the jdm vr-4 design so many had opt that lip. It would be nice to see a type-r or a ctr design on an 8g

i kinda like the type r. i might give it a try. then i'll get side skirts and a rear lip (all black), paint my spoiler black, paint my mirrors black, and tint my windows.....will the rear lip fit the same?

black lips = with some black headlights.

Black mirrors and spoiler - :pukey:

We don't know about the rear lip. But my guess is not. I'd encourage you to be the first to try. An older maxima might work though.

you don't think the blak mirror and spoiler would go well with a black big mitsu logo vinly like the evo has?

Kalamidad
04-29-2006, 08:19 PM
the evo wing is not black it's CF. If you where to paint it black to match the lip kits than it would look kinda cool. But the mirrors are a no-no any way i look at it.

and enough thread stealing....

I did it last summer and gave the bumper to Shortdogg2k05. Much harder to install than this, took me about 2 1/2 weeks to get it right compared to 3 1/2 hours it took for the 99-01 bumper 8) .

Yeah they are. There were a couple of people on there giving props where it was do. But you got to admit it is a touchy topic, Mugen on a Mitsu. We would give them shit if they had ralliart anything on the honda. I would have just presented pics of your car and left it at that and let them guess on what it was. When we rolled up at the Zero meet that Saturday you saw the looks on a lot of their faces. They were shocked to see nice looking galants that were not missing hub-caps. We are highly overlooked in the import world and no matter what we do someone we be there to criticize.

Yep, looks a lot better if lip is color-matched with the front bumper. Otherwise, your front will look like a bump car.

yea, color match it.

I put mine on over a month ago. I didnt like it as a add on lip, so i sent it to a homie to mold and color match. I'll get it eventually. No rush, its all for free. LOL. I still have my USDM fitment Cyber 2 front end, so im rolling on that. Ill post pics when I pick it up. But looks good.
