View Full Version : finally installed my MAF translator

OMG this thing is a gift from the car gods lol...
no more stalling at idle (bov recirsulated)
no more stalling when comming to a stop at a light
no more stalling when putting it in netural on the freeway/street when flying by a cops hahaha
turbo spools alot quicker (profec b spec 2 also helps)

i made a custom connector from a spare stock maf i had that nolonger worked

your car would stall all the time in those situations?? damn.. I will not be goin turbo in the Galant..

your better off leaving your upper piping the way it is, the less turbulence the better going into the intake manifold, so if you try to shorten up the piping and make a bend closer to the throttle body you will create more turbulence. I have a a tight bend going into my throttle body but thats only because there is no room to do it any other way. if you look at Honda turbo kits, you see the pipe is long and straight and has a gradual 45 degree bend then has more straight section right into the throttle body, its more effecient. Im not saying it wont work and maybe you wont notice any difference, but its been proven.

do you have it zero'd out and tuning with the emanage?
or did you have to calibrate the maft?

honestly man i would still run a airfilter and a pre turbo intake tube just so you won't suck in that screen, or anything else.
not to mention the hot air.

i bet the turbo sounds 10x better now though!!

Damn man, your car is going to be a MONSTER! Are you going to convert to blow-thru style?

Damn, I gotta start saving money to get my pistons in so I can turn up the boost and keep up :twisted:

all the stalling was do to a boost leak that i couldnt seem to find... aka too lazy to find. (i did make the boost leak finder from the vfaq.com site but it didnt help.

stewi i didnt mean like a 90 degree bend just something like a couple inches straight off the TB then an angle towards the driver headlight so most likely a 45 degree. i understand what you were saying about turbulence what size piping are you running on your evo setup? is it the stock TB too?

DOHCstunr i have the maf zero'd out so its basicly setup with no injector correction i dont even have the rmp wire connected im using it mearly as a metering device and my emanage takes care of all the tuning. ive got a air filter on its way the one i had before wasa 2.5in filter but my turbo inlet is 3in so i had to order another one... i ended up going with a greddy filter simply because most of the rest of my parts are greddy. your right man the sound of a spooling turbo is like no other you should have seen the big ass smile on my face as i heard it for the first time this loud lol

Len the car is setup for blow thru now and it make a pretty noticable difference to say the least.. the turbo spools quicker and reaches full boost about 2-300rpms quicker then before..

u ever make that emanage wire diagram??? i need it for next week.

What benefits is that maf over everything else?? its the gm one right?? and since im asking what does a blow through setup do??

A blow through setup like the MAFt will replace the stock maf. You no longer need to use the stock AMF and can vent to the atmosphere since the blow through maf will be higher up in the stream. Also a blow through maf is exactly that, no restrictions, unlike the stock MAF. ALso if you have the MAF translator you can do some tuning and injector sizing which is a nice feature.
