Cuz last time I bought a muffler by itself it was too small for the garages up here to work with... I'm not sure of our OEM muffler specs, I know its huge, but I compared this one to the specs of DryBear's Magnaflow muffler hes selling and this one is longer, not as large because of the oval body shape but longer..

Should any garage be able to weld that up, like I THOUGHT they would be able to with my old muffler.. or will I bump into probs..

Heres my old muffler, maybe it was just insanely too small?

your old muffler isn't too small. looking at your old muffler, i might be able to slip my muffler into the tip of your old muffler

the stock muffler on the 8G is quite long....if i remember correctly the case was around 16 inches, maybe longer. Plus the tailpipe that comes out of the muffler is at least 6 inches....so you're looking at a minimum of 22" to be filled back there.

the day my muffler arrived it looked ridiculously small and I was concerned, the case of it is only 14" but the tip is about 5" itself. installation required 2 hangers and a custom pipe extension to adapt with that final end of the stock exhaust piping. the stock muffler tail pipe has a bend in it and the inlet and outlet points are completely offset from each other. this may be why your local shops run into fitment issues.

it looks like your old muffler is quite short and the new one measures in at 20" overall and a 16" case section. so this is nearly long enough but with these long tube style mufflers some things will need to be added. I went with an oval-style canister just because it looks stock. only the tip size and internals are different so everyone just thinks I have a tip....until they hear that Borla roar.

I don't know what other information I can offer because the shop took my old muffler, I didn't want it anyways, but its not in my possession to help with my advice.

good luck though

That was about the size of my Weapon R muffler. ANY exhaust shop should be able to put that on no sweat. Cost me $50 plus piping, done in less than an hour.
