How the hell did you get the yellow in the lettering (dome light) and on the vents (hazard signal)?

silveresv6
05-08-2006, 01:32 AM
well the dome light letters are a little bit of magic my wife pulled with a paper clip lol and the hazard button i just masked off before i painted it. the vents i took completly apart and painted every piece.....they dont move as freely in the slots as before but i dont mess with them much anyway

Sweet! I like the yellow and black together, but that's because I'm a Steeler fan. If the outside of the car was either black or yellow, I'd say it goes, but not with a silver car. I hope you plan on adding more yellow inside then, like on the seats with some two-tone yellow and black.

I'm assuming you laid the suede over the stock cloth. Did you have any trouble trying to get wrinkles out of the suede or did it lay flat pretty easily?

yeah i plan on getting the two tone leather from katskins and as for the wrinkles..there was no problems. laid it right over the other stuff and started at the top, sprayed the super 77 on both pieces and slowly laid it on after letting the glue become tacky...was pretty easy

the only thing i would suggest is to trim the old fabric away off the edges of the panel because it was pretty tight putting the window felt thing back on

and as for the exterior color the car will eventually be black...if you notice on my sig pic the car is allready two tone from a bad paint job that was done by my insurance company to get rid of rock chips. so yeah black it is

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(The F.B.I)</div><div class='quotemain'>where did you learned how to do that?</div>

well first let me say that i am no where near a professional and don't claim to be...but i have been useing spay paint to paint different things (i.e models, RC cars, even the primer on my truck) since i was about 12 so around 17 yrs of doing it i guess you just get decent at it...trust me all the work ive done hasnt turned out this good, i have deffinatly had a big learning curve...

as for the suede i just read up alot about ppl here doing it and diving in and taking the risk..not real hard just gotta jump in and do it, make the mistakes, learn from them and others and keep on trying

and to everyone else (even the ppl that dont like my color choices) thanx for the compliments https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

Looks hot! I can't wait to see the final finished product. Are you going to paint the steering wheel or replace it? If you don't go Katskinz, try some Corbeau leather or suede bucket seats. They look great and don't cost as much as Sparco or Recaro, but have similar good quality (unlike cheap eBay knockoffs).

SWEET...all it needs is a black steering wheel....adding just that would allow you to get away with leaving the rest gray even though i'm sure you don't plan to and many other members will disagree that's not "complete" but personally I'd be satisfied with that much haha.

by the way, your gaugues/instrument cluster whatever ya wanna call it looks really good too.

anyhow thanx again guys

They're almost identical. I just replaced mine. You need one extra set for the rear as the Eclipse only comes with two in the rear.

The only differences are the rear buckles are screwed in reverse. It shouldn't matter as the angle align properly going down anyway. The other is the belt cover which is actually pretty nice.
