So my original plan was to turbo my 4g64. I decided it would be worth it to just get a 4g63 and a 16g/tubular manifold.
My plan is to get a 4g63 with the awd tranny, and peice together my turbo setup. I plan to make the car AWD in the process also, so the AWD tranny will be ready when the time comes. I see no reason why I can't use the AWD tranny for FWD, but if someone knows a reason, please let me know.
Now I just went out and spent 900$ on some nice Motegi universal 4 lug rims. They have 100mm and 114mm holes. I love my rims, and I don't want to sell them because I have to use 5 lug e/t/l axles. Can I just get some Evo axels, or will my stock 7g ones work fine?
Also, about how much boost can a stock 4g63 handle? I'm looking for about 300hp.
Any help is appreciated.

Ok, so you want to use an AWD trans in FWD mode? Only trans that are selectable are the JDM 6gvr4 AWD trannies and they will not work in a 7g without custom work. If your staying FWD just get a 2g or 7g 5spd FWD trans.
Axles, You can use the stock Galant Auto/5spd axles or use 2g FWD axles. As for AWD, Im sure you can just use AWD 2g axles but nobody really knows as nobody has swapped a 2g AWD trans in a 7g.
If your going to make the car AWD then go ahead, use a 2g AWD trans, if staying FWD, an AWD trans is pointless.
And boost, usually a 6bolt '63t will hold around 18-20psi on stock internals with the right fuel before the stock headgasket goes. With a MLS 4layer headgasket and some ARP headstuds, should hold around 25psi safely.

I guess I'll just bolt up my stock 5spd to the 4g63, and then just bolt the AWD tranny up when the time comes for AWD.
Thanks a ton bro.

Yah that would definitely be best. Stock 5spd 7g trans should handle 300hp just fine. Im around 240-250whp and its holding up perfectly with the SBR LSD insert.
AWD is going to be a chore and a half. I really want to convert. Just a matter of time and money haha.

Yeah, I already have a 6 bolt lined up along with a GSX ecu.
16g, ported 2g manifold, tubular o2 housing, turbo xs bov, safcII, 3in ic piping, big fmic, and a 3in exhaust.
With the 16g boosting me along at 25psi, I should have a pretty potent 7g.
Engine swap is going down in a few weeks. Need to get an engine lift first.

Depending on the 16g and the porting work, its more then likely not going to be efficient over 22-23psi. But still, that should set you at the 300+whp range https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

I have a 95 ES. 114000 miles on the car.
Would the Evo 16g be worth getting? I think I heard that there are fitment issues with the 4g63 though. Can anyone clarify?
