Hello Gente. My G is a DE, and I looking to get some foglights from the junkyard. I have 2 questions. First if I wiring then to the parking light do I get adequate W/V to light then up? Second, if the bulbs can be change to mach the SilverStar that I’m using on the headlights?

Thanks.

when people say search, chances are they themselves don't know a good answer to the question.

but off to answer your question. if you hook up the fogs to the parking lights, it will light up. there is enough power to light them up. but if you want to full potential of the fogs, i'd power the fogs by by the battery, switched with a relay and triggered by the parking lights.

as for the bulbs, sylvania does make a silverstar bulb in the 893 size which will fit oem fog light housing. they also make bulbs for other common fog light sizes like h3.

You can also check the price of the 893 ST at:

I still haven't found a good tutorial on how to make an independent fog light switch.
I know there are relays involved and ECU but han't seen any clear instructions. https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

Do the parking lights really pull that much that it would affect the brightness of the fog lights?

cant tell you that much but if you use a inline fuse and ground the fog to the chassis i wouldnt see it pulling the much. when i did the rewire on mine (prejdm) i didnt know any difference in my lighting.

look at the wires for the front turn signal bulb. just compare the wire for the parking filiment and the turn signal filiment and you'll see a difference in the wire.

but yea, i mean you can hook it up directly no relay but im just saying if you want the full potential...
