I just spoke with a KYB representative and I told them I wanted to lower my car using the tein s- tech springs and they said that the GR-2 are only meant for a 1.2" drop. I know a lot of you guys on here use the GR-2 w/ the tein springs or lower drops then the tein springs. I just wanted a confirmation that this setup will work and that there will not be a problem if I go w/ the GR-2's. I also figured that even if they only allow for a 1.2" drop that would still be better and safer than the stock struts and shocks which basically don't allow or were not desinged for any kind of drop.

I have the teins but refuse to go with the GR2. I suggest you save up for the AGXs.

the gr2's are pretty much made to be a factory replacement shock. its just a lil bit stiffer than factory. it will last a little bit longer than the factory though.

well, on the warranty we are screwed anyway, as it was never officially made for the Galant in the first place https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

I'd go with the AGX, it's worth the extra

thats where you're wrong. KYB does make gr2's for the galant.

the reason people rave the kyb's so much is just because A. they're cheaper than other models like koni and tokkiko. secondly, kyb was the first company to come out with aftermarket peformance struts for our platform.

i myself have koni's. the koni front inserts were the first aftermarket upgrade for the struts but required you to modify your existing struts. the kyb's were just a plug and play kinda deal.

You are right, I stand corrected.

The AGXs are not all that much better because I'm pretty sure even they are only warrantied for up to a 1.5" drop. So, as far as I can see, the GR-2s should suit you just as well as the AGXs.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(pinoyesv6)</div><div class='quotemain'>secondly, kyb was the first company to come out with aftermarket peformance struts for our platform.</div>

They were the first to make struts for the Galant period (they're the O.E. supplier) Same as with the 1g Neons, Koni made the O.E. struts, so they're the company that makes the best aftermarket struts also. This is also why Bilstin makes the best struts for Miatas.

Also of note, the GR-2 is now the "official" replacement for O.E. struts on the 7g Galant. My shop has put them in about 3 Galants recently.
