hey guys, I was just wondering if there are enough good photographers here that would be intrested in starting up a monthly art-photo thread? where people can post recent work. chime in if you would be intrested. a lot of other forums do this. and its intresting to see other peoples work aside from photos of their car.

I am camera obsessive... I carry a digital with me every where. I still shoot alot on film. I am trying to save up to go digital SLR.

i got a Kodak cx7525 that i carry with me and sometimes a tri pod in the trunk just in case. ive been thinking about taking photography up as a hobby. i seen some awesome places for photo shots but i cant drive and take pictures at the same time. so this is a shout out to anybody in the las vegas area i need some galants to pull off a photo shoot.

Haha so true!!! I have a digital, but I cant ever get great pics out of it especially when its dimly lit out at night. I guess the camera is just a POS.

Yea, I can adjust it, but I dont think it adjusts enough. Maybe I just need to play with it a bit more. Its a Fuji FinePix Z1, not really made for great shots but I hope to get more out of it.

For those who are interested Pentax has a 6MP camera out you can find it as cheap at under 400 bucks with the kit lense, i got my a few weeks back getting use to the settings. I took many picture back in the days with my SLR but they burn down in a fire. I hope to have some up here soon.

Just found some pics I took when I went to Guatemala 3 years ago. I took them with my dad's old (think 1960-something) Canon SLR. I love that camera.
These were taken in Champei, which is a 4-hour drive on a little dirt road deep into the jungle. It was literally hell getting there, but it was worth it,
because this place is like paradise. No one knows it exists except some native Guatemalans, since it is well hidden in the mountains. And yes, the water is really that color.
That place was gorgeous, and barely touched by human hands (no stupid tourists)...I wanna go back.

nice, i like #4 and 5.

Cardude03, some of those are pretty good. The first few didn't really intrest me too much to be honest. like #3 dosent have much subject matter to it. it just seems cluttered. I think its pretty challangeing to get a good photo of stuff like trees. to me trees are pretty boring unless they have some extravigant feature. or an intresting setting. # 4 is great. cool shot. but it looks like your camera got a sun beam and it made a little black dot in the middle. its hard to avoid that sometimes. but it can also ruin a photo. and for #5 cool shot also. it looks like you had a flash on for it though. I think it would look cleaner without the flash in the forground. hope this helps. keep shooting more. grab a coffee and wander around and find intresting things. thats the best advice i can give if your just starting to get into it.

thanks bigblue, i do agree about number 3, dont see what i liked about it so much. the other two i just like cuz of the focusing, and the texture. those shots were taken with a 10D, which is okay, but i wanted something a lil more beginner-friendly, with some cooler features built in and stuff, so i picked up my hannukah present last night, a S3 IS.

S3 IS is a cool camera, next best thing if you dont want a DSLR. And the 10d will kick you in the butt if your a beginner. The Digital Rebel is a very good beginner DSLR though, its not as hard to use.

Im thinking about picking up a S2 IS or S3 IS sometime soon, I like them a lot :)

cool shots. first off, is that someone with a t-shirt in the first photo. if so I want that shirt. those little plastic 45rpm clickers. I'm a huge record collector.

second. I like the shot of the earring. it turned out really good. and the leaf one turned out ok, but if I can give you a pointer, it would be that if you are taking a macro or close up shot. to avoid using the flash. I could be wrong but it looks like you were using a flash in that photo. and it takes away from some of the great detail in the leaf. becuase its reflecting off the pavement. try experementing with macro shots using a tripod too and playing with lighting. it can be alot of fun. i got some good shots from experementing with that stuff. keep posting.

Me and a few friends took a tour of an old building we are thinking of restoring and running a business in. It has 3 above ground stories and 2 below ground, its a very unique building. The very bottum floor has big brick columns the full length of the floor and there a walkway from the outside ground floor down to the first basement floor and has some nice "tunnel/archways that go under the sidewalk. I couldnt get any pictures of the 2nd basement floor as there were not any lights and it was pitch black down there.

1. Heres a front shot of the building, can kind of see the walkway to the first basement floor.

$590. $623 shipped after taxes. They have the XT for $509 w/o a lense if youd like to get a better lense off the bat.

Let me tell you, I like this camera a ton more then my S3IS. Only thing I miss from the S3IS is the bigger zoom lense, which will soon change if I ever decide to get a better telephoto lens.

The kit lens is pretty good though, I like it, just for sports and auto events, you might want something faster and with a bigger zoom.

You can with Zoombrowser but Canon only has updates for it on their site. They have a RAW codec download, but not sure what it does. I still have my cd for my XT, if you need it, I can copy it and upload it for you.

"Canon RAW Codec is plug-in software that enables the import and display of Canon Raw image files (.CR2) on Windows Vista."

Not sure what program its a plug-in for :-/

I took this one on Sunday on the way to dinner with my mom and my lady. So glad I was driving down Lake Shore drive when the rainbow popped out. You can see were I messed up the pic when I tried to clone people out of the photo.

Seth, your repertoire is really growing as your comfort level with the digital SLR increases. The Senior pictures are really good, as are the action shots of Jackson on the bike. You can't even see the tire spin blur that would normally show with a slower shutter speed. Good job!!!

Yeah I havent shot much lately. Shot a local motocross again last weekend, was fun, didnt like any of my pictures. Going to buy a Canon 70-200mm f4 soon and get rid of my Sigma 70-300mm. I have been spoiled with the focus and IQ of the USM lens!

And Chip, I really like your first shot there, thats a sweet capture of a spiderweb for sure!

No not related to me. Shes a singer that lives up here that needed new pics. My friend is her producer and told me she was interested in having pics done, i edited some of her pics before so she wanted to see how i would do taking the photos.
