View Full Version : M/T Shifter Base

Unforunetly my version of CAPS is not showing a part number for the white plastic shifter base. Does anyone know what the part number is? And for that matter is it possible to use the shifter base from other vehicles (3000GT/2G/ect)? I figure the mechanics are all basicly the same, and about the only thing that really differs is the location of 4 bolt holes.

Thanks.

2g is different, there isnt any white plastic on the base. How about a 5spd Stratus? Do they exist?

I got my transmission out of a 02 status r/t coupe (basically a dodge eclipse https://www.thegalantcenter.org/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'll let you know what I find in terms of part numbers - I'm having a bitch of a time trying to find the shifter/cables/clutch pedal

Ya I noticed the 2G is far too diffrent to use (and its made entirely out of metal). Couldn't find anything searching under Stratus either.

I know there are always a Stratus or 6 in my junkyard, just not sure if they are newer years. I will check tomorrow.

besides just the base, the shifter itself is different.

WHY DO <span style='font-size:25pt;line-height:100%'>YOU</span> WANT TO KNOW??????????

WHY DO <span style='font-size:25pt;line-height:100%'>YOU</span> WANT TO KNOW??????????</div>

Well I figured if I could get the 3kGT base (along with the 3kGT shifter, and everything else thats inherent to that paticular base), then I could simply hook up the shifter cables to the 3kGT base and be set. From what I can tell, the shifters all basicly work the same (lateral and longitudinal movement in the shifter results in torque being transfered to the shifter cables, and in turn into the gearshift levers on the tranny itself).

Of course this is all under the assumption that I can fabricate some sort of mount in case the bolt holes don't line up.

I'm looking to purchase something like this:
eBay
(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8053010401&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT)
Also I might have a 5spd transmission at my door by tommorow.

Well so long as the guy didn't screw me over.

This should be waiting at my door (its about 40 miles away right now):

Thankfuly Mitsubishi publishes VIN number guides online. Using that I figured out it was a 6 banger.

I figure it was rebuilt due to the TOB recall. So it *should* be good as new.

Can you check for some parts for me as well? I need a shifter base and the cables as well.

By the way, what is part#24044? Is that some kind of insulation padding or something?

Also I believe 24044 is the piece that goes into the firewall.

Ahhh ok, looks like they have an update version. Damn I need to get a hold of that.

I updated the parts list based off of my version of caps. It includes everything that I can actually see on the CAPS diagrams. I'll try to get the part numbers for the smaller stuff as well.

That awesome dude! Even more so since your place is charging about $100 less than mine (Rey Reeces).

Sounds good - I actually ordered my clutch and slave cylinders from http://www.partsamerica.com ('http://www.partsamerica.com'), but I still need the hydraulic lines and clutch pedal - will probably order the lines from slowboy racing.

Do you have a part number for the manual tranny plate?

Ya that looks like it should be:
MD309916
updated to:
1055A022

BTW If you happen to have the VIN # off the transmission that could make the part numbers more accurate. The block plate for example has nearly a dozen replacements parts.

The part number I pulled up was using the VIN # from my tranny which is supposed to be an 03.

Problem is the tranny I purchased was from an 02 Stratus R/T, already pulled from the car. I will see if I can get a hold of the yard I bought it from to see if they have the VIN for it.
