I know this topic probably popped up here and there before but i want to make sure.. I saw that some put leather around their shift knob.. but i want the p r d 3 2 1 to stay there.. so can i just do it this way..
I've seen a lot ppl do it like this, covers whole thing:

But i want to do something like this, when i will still have the letters showing:

But if it is possible to do it that way, will ti somehow make it harder to shift or smth like that?

You mean like this?

Its doable I fabricated a metal loop in the shape of the lever area, and glued the boot to that metal loop - the metal loop was then attached to the underside of the shifter - but I scrapped that one, as I didn't have enough leather - when the shift lever was moved from park to low, the boot would get pulled out of the metal loop. Ideally, you want enough leather to actually sink into the shift lever area - I've seen it this way on some caddys - I'll have to see if I can dig up some more pics.

you might want to try using an ebrake boot instead of a shift boot. the ebrake boot is thinner so it would be a nice size. plus, ebrake boots are typically longer so you might not run out of leather like drybear did with his shift boot.

yeah but i still didnt get my question answered - if i will glue it to the bottom of plastic thing, i will still have to leave the rugger strip on.. but leather would create a lot of friction, no? So will it shift fine, or i just dont have to use the rubber strip, but if i dont, will it cover the whole hole or not..

Is that your shifting boot? Where did you get it, and what other types work or are they all the same? Thing is i am interested in one.

yea im still waiting on my razo to come i ordered from cardomain about 5 weeks ago but im still waiting for a part of my order to get in anyway i got my shift and ebrake boot from redlinegoods.com they make any color you want and they are real nice i saw them advertising on club 3g and a lot of the members have them over thier they dont have them premade for the galants so you will have to get one similar in size and shapes i just went with the 3g one and have it set up like you want yours and it fits good and looks great

good luck but.. i wouldnt set it up with the stock shifter and you will need an e-brake handle to make it look good
