Couldn't get any Mitsubishi transmission fluid so refilled with Dexron III (which my local Mitsubishi dealer told me they use)

to me replacing mitsu tranny oil with dexron iii is like replacing spring water with river water. of course you could still use it but the long term effects are different.

or you could get penzoil syncromesh; it's the same stuff as gm's, but cheaper and more available.

ok i was at auto zone not to long ago and was looking through their transmission fluid and out of all the ones i looked at only 1 had mitsubishi on the back and it was for automatics, i can remember the name but if it has mitsubishi on the back does it mean its safe to use with our cars?

get diamondstar atf +3 from the dealer. It isn't cheap but it is what the service manual recommends.

Any Mitsu tech will tell you to ONLY use the Mitsu ATF. Id spend a few extra and get it straight from the dealer.

Yeah don't use Dextron III it was used in the older Mitsi autos (the KM series, ie KM175 4 speed in the 85-89 Galant/Sigma). If you must use aftermarket use Castrol TQ95 or Valvoline 95LE. But otherwise I would recommend using the specified fluid from the Mitsu dealer.

Personally I would just stick to a manual :P

is this for an automatic or 5spd? don't use the penzoil syncromesh for the 5spd....there are occasionals postings on tuners of people changing their syncromesh fluid and it came out like water with crap in it.....run syncroshift2 from BG

for automatics only use mitsu fluid
