Hey guys,

My Galant just started leaking from the heater core. How difficult is it to access the core? Does the entire dash have to come out?

Thanks for the help!

dash and HVAC system have to come out and apart.

NOT an easy job... takes about 5-6 hours for a professional, and it requires complete draining of the cooling system and AC system.

Very simple if you know where all the screws and bolts are. The mechanics usually charge around 3-500 bux for a job like that due to the fact that you have to remove the dash, but its not an incredible feat that you cant do. For starters.... If you ever removed your radio then its a start. There are bolts behind your dash vents that hold the corner of the dash on, a few are under the glove box but to attain them you must carefully remover the air bag. From there just use common sense and unbolt what you see holding the dash to the frame rail. Take alot of pics if you have a bad memory so you know what goes where when your ready to put it back.

its not the dash removal thats the hard part.. its the HVAC box behind it.

try it.. you'll see.

Been there and done that, just take your time and you will get to it with little to no bruises or scratches.

Thanks for the help guys, the car has a lot wrong with it right now, so we'll see if it's worth even attempting.

Sounds like it's just a job where you follow the logical steps.

Thanks again.
