View Full Version : New goodies for my swap

well, as some of you may know, my engine failed due to a failed oil pump and i've been contemplating on what my next steps would be to get up and running again. My original goal with the car was a reliable car running off the stock EVO ecu that was STREET LEGAL in california. (at the expense of high hp)

I am now moving back to miami next summer to finish my business degree so my goals have changed.

So now, im in the process of building a 2.3 stroker motor, using the following new
components:

4g64 crank
wiseco 8.8:1 "stroker" pistons
eagle rods
ACL bearings
All ARP hardware
Precision 780cc injectors
HKS 272/272 cams
Fidanza cam gears

i'll be running the stock 16g turbo (upgraded 10.5 hotside) in the meantime to give the wallet a much needed rest. then i'll be upgrading the turbo most likely to a 50 trim kit from RnR with a custom manifold so i can get rid of the ugly manifold spacer i currently have. the tunning will be done by Tuning Technologies up north, so hopefully i'll have some dyno graphs in about a month i pick up the block at the end of next week!

haha
I've had a cople blocks in my trunk too lol!

sounds like a solid setup.

can't wait to see the results.

you oughtta flare the fenders and run a wicked ass offset so you can have tires fat enough to hook up on the street.
2.3+ quick spool = tire butcher

its going to be sick.
OOOOOHHHHHH

<span style="font-size:10pt;line-height:100%">and they have 93 OCTANE in miami!!!!!!!!!!!!!

egh, i already had the 2.0 with all the accessories and i didnt want to buy new stuff for the '64, so 2.3 it was.

im running 235's right now i'll probably try to squeeze in some 245's when these tires wear out, which shouldnt be too long haha.

actually i think i remember a gas station by my dad's house that had 100 octane on pump so i'll have to look around for a new tuner in southern florida

With that setup you'll be able to support your 50 trim no problem and put some serious numbers down on the dyno. With all that work, you should be able to handle 500+ hp. Able to roast tires off like nothin.

yup yup although my ultimate goal really is get ahold of a starion...drop this motor in there and drop a regular 2.0 back in the galant. :-P

Damn I wish i even had the choice of swapping out my engines if I wanted to. You have ADD? just playin. Good luck with the Starion project. Can't go wrong with the old 2.0 back in the G. That should be a cake walk for you.

im still trying to decide whether i should bring my daily with me...shipping one car is expensive as it is but two is.. :???: i might just sell it as is and buy another car down there or strip it to stock and just bring the parts.

i already got my FL license about a month ago when i was down there (out of state tuition loop hole haha)
so probably next june/july

havent got it back yet...they keep bullshiting and they turned the crank without telling me and wanted me to buy bearings that were .010 over, so i went ahead and bought another crank and ordered some ACL race bearings...i might as well wait and do it right the first time.

i should have it back around wed/thurs next week and i'll post pics up. what made you go with a .040 over? what compression pistons did you get?

underated
10-06-2006, 02:18 PM
i got 8.5:1 so with the lower compression pistons im hoping the larger bore will balance out so i dont loose all low end torque
hopefully the 2800 stall torque converter with help too

what bearings did you go with i was told to use either mitsubishi or clevite bearings of the 1g 6bolt's?

im using ACL race series bearings. you'll want to use 2g 7 bolt bearings with thrust washers instead of the flanged ones for the mains. either bearings are good. clevites you can can get autozone.

i was told to use the 1g 6bolt bearings if i used the 2g 7bolt rods with a 4g64 crank that might all change anyways when i have the crank cryo treated so im gonna hold off on the bearings for now... the motor is a seperate one that i have so down time is not really an issue but i do want to have this done sometime soon lol

Noel you should have just used the turned crank. The 64' cranks dont have any nitride coating in them, neither do the stock EVO cranks, so turning them really wont do any harm.

I was told the same thing when I used 2g Eagle rods in my EVO block. I actually spoke with a tech at Eagle about this, he told me that initially the 2g rods needed to use 1g bearings because they never changed the bearing tang seat. However, they have since changed this and now you can use the correct 2g/EVO bearings.

well, after waiting about a a month and a half instead of the 2 weeks it was supposed to take, i finally got my 2.3 stroker back. also went ahead and did the balance shaft delete while it was being assembled. just waiting for seals and gaskets to come in tomorrow and i'll be able to start assembling the motor. i'll post up pics as i progress.
