So I just ordered 2 yards of vinyl to do my door panels and dash. Anyone have any tips or suggestion on how to proceed? And also what kind of adhesive to use.

from what Ive heard is that the panels that are covered by material on the door panel is held in by plastic rivets and those have to be drilled and something has to be found to replace them

Do you even own a Galant? Please do not give advice on something you have no experience on. G-Ridda, I wouldn't mind a tutorial if you could make one up. I plan on doing mine during the winter.

ok. i'll give my advice. if you want to do it right, you remove the plastic rivets holding in the part of the door panel with the fabric. then you take out the fabric (which is really hard to do but is well worth it) and you lay on some new fabric. then to put it back, just use a screw and a fender washer to hold the insert to the door panel.

of couse you can just not take off the insert but good luck trying to get that to look factory as you're trying to tuck the fabric into the door panel with your mom's butter knife.

i have done my headliner and doors in suede and my dash with vinyl. here (https://www.thegalantcenter.org/index.php?showtopic=46808&st=0) is a post with a lot of info from when i did it. deffinatly do it in the winter time so that the glue has PLENTY! of time to cure as i did mine in the summer time and it started pulling away with the intense 120+ degree interior heat in the summer. so yeah check it out and if you have any questions hit me up im sure i can help you out.

there is nothin wrong with breaking the rivets and it can be better in some cases but every persons rivets arent the same.if yours were like mine then when u break the rivets some will break on the wrong side and if that happens its impossible to use screws to hold the 2 panels together without drilling a hole straight through the main door panels which is very sloppy and there will be gaps inbetween the fabric and the door panel were the fabric is tucked. i just moved to atl and i am kinda stressin out and occupied if somone jus reminds me ill take some pictures of the tools to get and help the best i can.

i donth think 2 yds will be enough i think i used 2 on my doors alone, i broke most of the rivets doing mine but i left 2 on the bottom because they looked to be a pain to screw back in

on the door panels i used a heat gun to reshape the rivets, and they poped back in perfect, but on the dash its a harder plastic and had to drill them out. Also tucking is a bitch just take the pieces apart its well worth it. like fatal1 said i dont think 2 yard will be enough either i think i usd 2 on my panels and 1 and half on my dash. Def use the 3m autofabric adhesive, its the shit.

#1. Reading info and parrotting it back onto the boards isn't helpful.

#2. What car do you drive?

#3. How old are you?

Just because your father owns/owned a Galant doesn't make you a primary source of information. Anyone should take the information you disperse with a grain of salt. Not to mention even the info you posted in this thread is incorrect. The least you could have done was copy it word for word and post it so you don't confuse the person who asked the question.
