Can u take the auto gear shifter off and put one on that doesn't have the button to shift???
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me here.

no because that button plus the brake is what unlocks the shifter to put the transmission into gear ..if im not mistaken there is a few aftermarket shifters that have the button but it looks like a manual shifter.. or your other option is to do a manual sawp

its not my car it is my dads but on the usdm(stock) headlights we cleared the corners but on the jdm headlights (shown in my sig) we have yet to clear the corner because it is a more complex process plus we would have to take the whole front bumper off to get to the headlights then we would of had to worry about the bumper aligning up right again

there is a way to rig up the shifter to actually not have the button, but i wouldn't recommend it. just because, you could be on the freeway doing 70 and then accidentally knock the shifter into reverse or park and you can just dream about what happens from there.

there are "buttonless" shifters for automatics like hte ones made by razo and nokya. but really, they do have the button, the shift knob itself is the button.

but yea, here's my ghetto shift knob and custom boot trim.

for some reason on my 2nd G the shifter could be moved from P,R,N,D without touching the button or the brake pedal, i found out that the clip in the shifter was gone allowing it to break the rules of having to step on the brakes and push the button.

mine still keeps correct funtionality; the knob has 2 parts, the upper and the the collar. the whole knob is pressed down to engage the shifter release; the collar keeps it from being able to be pulled off the shifter shaft. i could put a boot on it to make it look like a maual and u would never kow it was auto w/o looking for a clutch pedal.

go to "tuning" then "shift knobs"

although it's not in my old pics, i also have the e-brake handle... but it does require modification to the OE handbrake handle.

Reelax, did you have to modify it to work, or was it designed to work as a push down?
