I had mine redone for the 2nd time cat-back this past Sat. 2.5" cat-back. When they got to the end I asked if they could possibly angle it out like I had wanted in the first place. They said they didn't have any room to do it piping wise. I said it's been done a few times that I know of, and with the short racing muffler I have, I know it can be done. Any pics would be greatly appreciated up close, under/over the axles. Thanks for helping me out in advance guys and proving my point.

yeah the problem might be with all the bends... i though about extending the pipe downwards to get a straight effect.. but with the G dropped, it's not gonna work.. but good luck.

there's mine and its semi-angled. the pipe didnt need a lot of work to sit that way. Back when my car was slammed and you look under the car there was still a lot of ground clearance to angle the exhaust out the way the Eclipse has it. Just a matter of positioning it right. Only problem with positioning it at an agressive angle like the eclipse is that youll need a heat shield for where the muffler hits the bumper cuz there would definitely be some burning and discoloration. but As I said if you poition it just right it will sit perfect. Cuz The Galants don't really have a rear end made for angled exhausts so you gatta kinda work with what ya got.

Thinking of replacing my exhaust with the Invidia N1 full catback for the 3G with 2.5" piping or the Megan catback for the Galants. The axle-back isnt doing much for me anymore.

if they went over the axle like how the exhaust normally goes, there won't be much room to make the exhaust have an extreme angle like that "tuner" look you're going for. even with a smaller muffler, doing it like that will give the exhaust too many bends, which is not what you want. the spare tire well will be in the way.

if you want that angle you'll have to have them go under the sway bar. where the mid pipe and the axle back connects, instead of having it loop up over the frame, have it loop down and to the right. but that will give you clearance issues if you're car is too low, because now the exhaust pipe will be sitting 2 inches lower than the bottom of the car.

Does this do anything for the performance of any car. I like the look of just a straight look exhaust. But that's just my $0.02

Pure cosmetic. Im an NA w/ a turbo muffler. But im sorry guys, I dont see a Galant as "FAST." Its a nice looking car. Not much more to me...Unless you go 5 speed evo swap, then its something...

that's the only car I know of on here that has that look I'm going for. I knew from that pic it could be done. Is it under the sway bar/axle area? I think even with the TEIN drop it's not low enough to scrape.

Thanks bro.

My addco is over it. It was on Tein SS and it scraped nasty. I would suggest NOT making it so extreme. It will bottom out so much that it will ruin the muffler. The back of my muffler, at the lowest point has bottomed out so much that the back side of the "can" is opening like a can opener. So if you wanna angle it...
Dont do it as exteme as mine, think of the bumper, I have a cyber 2, so it looks "okay", oem may look wierd. Then have it stick out a little past the bumper to prevent paint chips or darkening from exhaust heat. Also think of space from bumper. When you start it may hit the bumper and when you drive the heat, if too close may melt/warp the bumper..

I had mine like that too. Same exaust in fact the guy that did my welding did it. I was against it but i was asleep in the office when he installed it I came out and looked at it and was like WTF? But it didn't bother me enough to redo it. Plus it shows a little more bling when you get it polished up.

I too only have it slightly angled. Like Sillyasianz said, you may want to find a happy medium between aggressive angle and straight. You could tell mine was angled more before the body kit. Now you have to really be looking.
