ViS VR4 8G body kit. Has anyone actually SEEN it? [Archive]

ViS lists a VR4 style body kit for the 8G on their website. They however have no pictures of it. The staff seems incapable of describing it to me. Has anyone ever actually seen them? Did you by chance snap a picture or three when you did? Does it look like another kit you could direct me to?

i seen a pic of it in several magazines,,it actually looks like danjs kit exactly...dunno if anyones actually ordered it from them or not thoguh... and ive never seen it in their website,just their magazine ads

i vagely remember somone trying to order it from vis when it came out and they didnt have it or something also?

i didn't add mine because mine doesn't connect in the front, they are two separate peices.

That the original kit the VIS kit was developed from. The only difference is that those are on JDM bumpers. The VIS is made to fit on the 99-01 bumper...

that's nice. Other than the rear bumper line being higher than the door lines, it looks reall good. Rodt read bumper has a strong recembalance to that one.

I believe this topic came up earlier with another member. He went directly to VIS to get it, but they actually don't produce it anymore. I believe they only produced 3 kits. Two I do know of and one on the west coast. As far as I know. It would cool if someone could check with them again and see. Since yall have seen it in the mags.

Well fellas I was going to keep it under my hat, but I guess I'll share the info. I actually know someone locally who has one of these kits. They ordered it from a member on here that was known as BoostedGalant and then changed his name to Blownoffvalve. (I hear he's a good guy to work with.) He hasn't installed it yet and it's sitting in storage. It's actually just a front bumper, that is a knock-off of the JDM Super VR4 bumper, except it's all molded together as one piece. I think it was molded from a JDM bumper, but don't know for sure since its never been test fitted. Also, it is not a full kit, you have to choose sides and rear from what VIS offers. Just wanted to shed some light on this subject, since it has been discussed before. Now I know y'all are going to want some pix and I'll try to post some later if I can find the ones I took when he first got it, but I think those pix were on my laptop that was stolen. If so, I'll check with him to see if he has some photos. Someone just remind me, I get kinda busy doing other things when I'm off work.

i just got a set of the old style vr4 sides, hopefully will be throwing them on sometime this week to go wuith the vrg bumper i just threw on a few days ago....

i believe frankmb has a set of authentic super vr4 sides as well as the rear, i know mikeyhotts was supposed to get them, but he contacted me after i bought my sides and rear so try pming both of them if someone wants them

he's talking about that bumper which is the 96-97 Vr4. Stwei was able to fit a FMIC in there. It all depends on what dimensions the IC has. I would say, chances are yes, usless you're using something ridiculous. Jetbalck has a FMIC with the OEM bumper and so does Underated. So you don't really have to change you're bumper unless you want to.

OK, I just got off the phone with them and the official word from ViS is that they are indeed still making the VR4 front lip. Not only that but they'll make it (and anything else they make) in carbon fiber or silver carbon/kevlar fiber as a special order.

I was quoted $183 + shipping for the VR4 front lip. $524 for silver fiber which I'm actually thinking about. We'll see how the silver fiber hood looks and go from there.

By the way I'm going to see what can be done about a possible group buy on OEM style silver carbon fiber hoods for the 8G from either ViS or Deft Racing. Check out the topic on the subject in the group buy forum if interested.

Yeah that Vis bumper with the molded lip is exactly like DANJ's so I guess its the VRM one. From seeing DANJ's car in person multiple times, there is no way in holy hell your fitting an intercooler in there. On my 97 JDM front, I had to cut the bottom of the crash bar out around the intercooler and sorta sink the intercooler into it. So essentially my crash bar sticks out about 1/2" past the face of the intercooler and mind you I have no A/C, I had to get rid of the A/C condensor to fit my intercooler. My intercooler is 26x8x3. I cant see being able to fit anything thicker than 3" since my bumper is already pushing hard up against it.

On the topic of VIS doing a bumper in CF, that would be hott if someone got a complete CF front end, hood, bumper, and fenders. That would look sick.

Hey man, good to see your still around. But naaa..."my friend" :wink: hasn't installed this kit yet. He's supposed to be getting another ride soon. Once he does, he's going to put the G in the shop to have everything installed. You know driving a lowered and kitted car everyday is the fastest way to have some jerk "F" it up with a quickness. You know insurance companies will never replace that stuff or pay you what it's worth.

That's the whole point of my original post on the subject. They have a page for it with nothing on it and when I talk to them on the phone they say they make it but never got a chance to photograph it (and they'd love for me to take a picture for them if I get it). =P

The JDM crash bar wont work, I tried it already and its still sitting in my garage. The JDM VR4's have a different style radiator support on the bottom which allows for the clearance for a FMIC. Also, the JDM crash bar sorta bolts to the front of the frame rails, where as ours has a piece that actually slides into each rail and bolts from the bottom the JDM ones bolt thru the face of the crash bar on the front.
