If you're set on spending your gift certificate on a radar detector from Best buy then go for any of those. Personally, I would spend the extra money and get a detector/laser jammer that is tested and proven. I would stick with the companies that specialize in radar detectors like Escort, Bel, Blinder, etc. If I'm putting my faith in a detector I would want to make sure its quality.

I'm on it now. the Cobra's are on there actually and get marginal reviews. Check it out. Lots to choose from.

I would save that gift certificate from Best Buy and buy the best radar detector out on the market. I have the Valentine One and it has saved me numerous times. If there is a radar three miles up the road it will alert me. Also tells you if its coming from in front or behind or the side. It might be a little pricey but it pays for itself in two years. I havent had a speeding ticket in 5 years because of the detector.

It must be you. An awesome site. Has ratings of all types of detectors and their costs. They have 2 detectors that rate just as high as the Valentine for $150 less. I was thinking of doing the laser jammer setup, but don't really want to go through the hassle of putting the LED's in the front and rear of the car. I'm probably going to get the Bel RX65.

Read my post again, $150 LESS than the Valentine:) yes, if you order from that site you get the full warranty and all that jazz. the one I mentioned goes for $330. Better than $500 still.

The Valentine 1 is only 399.00 on their website, plus if there is an upgrade, you ship the unit back to Valentine and they update it. The valentine unit is one you keep for life.

If you are going to spend 330 spend the extra 60 and get the V1.

Radar detectors are great... 3 - 4 years ago. With technology today and the ever increasing crack-down on excessive speeding on the roads and highways, Law Enforcement is starting to switch to Lasers. As many people cannot afford a laser-jammer or really know about them, a radar detector is useless. However, many agencies do not have the funds to upgrade their speed detection systems, nor have the funding to do so. So, if you were to get one, I would go w/ what Matt has, the Valentine1. Has to be the best out there. I have a cheap $45 one I bought off eBay over a year ago, and has actually picked up signals the V1 hasn't. Saved my ass numerous times. But I also don't drive 20+mph... usually just 5-7 over.

Out of THOSE 3 Cobras, I'd say go with the 9330. I sell those things at Best Buy, and there's honestly no beneficial difference. Just a voice and text display. The 9330 is a basic radar, gets the job done well enough. Those 3 all have the same range, same detectability. Just one is fancier than the next.

Personally, for performance, I'd recommend either going for the Cobra 9730 only b/c of the POP mode or the Escorts. You pay double on the escorts, but the accuracy & durability on those is insanely good.

I personally would get a K-40. But they are a lot more expensive. I wanna get the Calibre...its a bluetooth system. Very few wires, 360 degree coverage

We have hidden K-40's in some of our evo's... It's pretty sick... But I would go for the valentine... I've heard amazing things about those detectors...

like i said. i'm waiting for the escort 9500 to come out. its the first GPS-enabled radar system. soo many cool features.

you can mark false locations, and it will block them out in the future. you can also mark other locations like speedtraps, and redlight cameras.

if there is a cop in a false location, it will still pick up the different signal and let you know.

its speed sensitive, so when your going slow in a parking lot, it wont false on every sliding door and stuff. but when your going over like 50, its on max sensitivity.

its also sound sensitive, so the louder it is in your car, the louder it beeps.

it also tells you your speed whenever it picks up a signal.

check it out.
