Tonight I hit an 90's Chevy pickup in the rear end while going about 5 mph. The bumper hit just above my bumper in the grill and headlight area. The headlights and grill are intact but pushed around a little. The hood had a 3 inch upward buckle in it. The fenders look undamaged. I'm estimating the parts to fix it would be under $750, not including labor and paint. Any ideas what the whole job might cost? My accident and and ticket record is clean. Any ideas what my insurancy might go up if I claim this? Also is a surcharge applied to the whole policy and all cars on it or just the one car? I have four cars on my policy!

$250. I'm more concerned about if my insurance would go up if I make a claim. I'll call my agent tomorrow. I have Safeco.

Most insurance companies these days give you one free accident, but that may not pertain to someone who has been with a company for 8 years. It might only be for new customers. After I had my accident in July, I waited to see what my insurance would charge me when I had to pay again, and it went up a bit. So, I switched to Geico and saved a ton of money... no joke.

I got the estimate from a shop I've used before. The total came to $1800. Kind of suprising since the fenders are okay, just the hood grill and headlights have issues. Could my insurance couldn't go up by $1500 over however many years it would go up? I've also though of trading the car in. I wonder if I could get $2500 for it as is on trade.

if the headlight and grille are pushed in, more than likely the radiator support is bent and is probably gonna be most of the labor, besides paint.

I just went through the repair process after a woman rear-ended my GTZ while it was parked in front of my house. See my webpage for the gory details and pics.

My headlights looked fine but after the body shop removed them, there
were cracks in the back of the housings that would have let moisture in.

The front sub-assembly (the part the bumper and fenders are bolted to) was bent.
This also was not obvious until the front bumper and fenders were removed.

According to my bill of materials:
$176 per headlight assembly, $100 for the grill. $146 for the bumper cover.
Can't say about cost to paint.

As to insurance, it depends on the company.

Can't tell about the grill from your pics.

I'd bet the front subframe is bent at the front based on your pics.
This can be repaired (at least it was on mine and my hood was buckled far greater than yours).
I'd say you're looking at a new hood, too ($300).

You'll have to have the headlights pulled and examined.
