I have the upgraded Infinity stereo/amp and I want to install this new head unit.

Also, how hard is it to disable the center speaker? Only reason I ask is because it's beginning to pop. I don't know if it's blown or not. Plus being in the top center of the dash it looks like a bitch to replace.
I'm not looking for "competition" stuff and the factory speakers will do me just fine. I only want something w/ MP3 capability and a front USB port for my thumbdrive.
Thanks!

Sorry I wish I could have taken pics, but no camera when I did that. I haven't done it again since, and no one here has contacted me about doing it for them so I could take pics.

Just pull the center speaker, its not very hard, you've just got to have a short screwdriver.

from the top of the dashboard???
Man, looking at the instructions again I noticed you have to remove the passenger seat. How hard is that to do?

I posted this same thing on your post on GF
========================
The center channel is easy to replace. The grill pops off easily and the speaker lifts right out. Its roughly a 2.5" speaker that is actually bi-amped from the left and right channels. Without the center channel the soundstage is junked. Keep it if you can. Worst case is you can find a new center speaker for cheap from even the dealership.
As for bypassing your factory amp why? It properly powers your interior speakers. All I would do in your situation is bypass the amp in your new headunit. Either way what you'll need is called a MITAH adapter.
What a MITAH adapter does is connect either a) an aftermarket amplifier to a factory system or b) a aftermarket headunit to a factory system.

Keep in mind if your new head unit doesn't have two RCA pre-outs, you will lose the ability to fade with the Mitah adapter.
The stock center speaker is crap. Mine blew as well, but I went to Best Buy and found a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch P132C speakers for $50. It's a 3.5" two-way speaker that kicks ass! Only minor modification needed to make it fit and cover it with the stock speaker grill too. Plus I have a spare. :D

Hey thats' great to know. So what do you guys think of this HU? http://www.cardomain.com/item/JENMPA6611X
Please keep in mind I'm not looking for competition equipment and have every intention of keeping my stock speakers. I just want something I can listen to while going back and forth from work.
Oh yeah, I think I'll pick up the same Rockford Fosgate speaker to replace my center. What exactly was your "minor mod" to make it fit?
Btw, thanks for everyone's help. Of all the boards I've participated in this one has been the most helpful. /virtual group hug lol

You'll have to do a bit of cutting of the plastic duct work thats under the speaker so the speaker will drop down low enough to put the center grill on. A dremel works well here. Just cut enough space for the speaker magnet. I think you can use the stock mounting points, but it's been a while since I replaced mine,. The objective is to get the center grill on so it looks stock but sounds better.

Congratulations, Dave. Based on the posts I've read here, that puts you in the minority and makes you one of the lucky ones.
