Hey guys I'm kinda undecided whether I should replace my chrome grill or not. Here's what I'm looking at getting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-01-MITSUBISHI-GALANT-GRILL-GRILLE-BLK_W0QQitemZ180083362942QQihZ008QQcategoryZ33645Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

And this is what my car looks like right now. Bone stock (well except for the drop in K&N)

well you have no other black features so i would say no, if anything cut out the fins and paint it green or silver

i'd keep the one you have.

or it might be cheaper if you had smoeone paint your current grille to the color of your choice and still retian the mitsu emblem

you can cut the fins and put mesh behind it or you can colormatch it.

or

you can grab a can of "flat black" paint and paint the fins instead of cuttin. just something different. Thats what I did to my car.

don't go and buy a new one- unless you really want to

color match this one and go from there

what are your future plans?

I went with cutting the fins and a gloss black paint. I like the black just because of how it contrast with the white. But you have a darker color, so I say cut the fins, but color match to the car. The black wouldn't go as good with a darker color. That's just my opinion though.

how easy is it to cut the fins? Do they snap right off? I've seen many G's w/ the mesh inserts and really like the look. How do I go about doing that?

the admin of this forum just cut the fins off with his swiss army knife. i did mine with a coping saw.

you can use a dremel tool but you really don't need it.

Well my .02 is if you want to cut the fins, buy the new one and cut them. If you just want to color match or paint it black then do it to the factory. If you cut it and decide to sell the car factory, then you have to buy one anyways.

yea i used a $6 hand saw and steak knife, much cheaper if you dont feel like buying a dremel

is it ok to hack away the grill while it's still in place? I see no reason to remove unless I'm going to paint.

i say just remove it. its not that hard to take off. just make sure you dont lose the little clips. if you take it off, you can move it around and stuff.

The first mod I ever did was to paint my grill black. I thought about cutting the fins also, but I figured that would be too much work since I'm going for the JDM look anyway. So I kept the fins on grill, then a month or two later I bought my JDM grill.

I guess it all depends on your taste and your future plans for your g. 8)
