since i dont plan on putting a kit on my G any time soon, im gunna go ahead and blow some money on HIDs for the headlights and foglights.

im thinking of getting 12000k for both, or maybe just the headlights and 8000k for the fogs. i usually drive with both on at night and i dont want there to be a huge difference in color or i would get 3000k fogs for visibility.

how do you think 12000k headlights and foglights would look on a stock bumper?

I have 8000k in my heads, looks good-blue/white

isnt 12000k kinda purple, if your going for ya heads i think u should go wit sumin brighter than that, and 12000k is not DOT approved

Matt, I currently have 8k lows and I had 6k lows. Roman's got 6k lows right now. I will tell you this. The higher the number the less actual light output, and I can see that for sure. And once I had an Odessey fly up on me with 12k, they were bright and blinded the crap out of me. But once he passed me and I was looking at the output the lights gave off I didn't really see that far ahead of him. Seems like they are more for looks then for functionality.

i realize kits arent great, but i have decided its what im getting. i know retrofitting is 84294834982 times better but im not worried too much about performance since i drive in pretty well lit areas.

i dont care about DOT approved, i have tints that are illegal, why not lights too.

i know 12000k isnt going to be bright but i drive where it is well lit. i am going more for looks than anything. i just wanted opinions on how 12000k heads and fogs would look

I got 4300k in my jdm heads right now. Bright white...same color as OEM HID. I want them for visibilty, i think stock color looks cool anyway so no need for blue or purple. I had a 3000k kit for fogs and those are amazing.

This is the 4300k kit I have now. It has a digital ballast w/ igniter built in.

Here is a pic of my old h3 3000k kit. Don't mind the 8000k kit in the heads...that was an old setup.

don't go higher than 8000K... you might as well not upgrade to HID if ur gonna do that. here is my car w/ 6000K HID all around (low, hi and fog):

the colors don't match because the low beam is used way more than the brights and the fogs are 2-3 years newer than both the lows and hi's. over use and time, HID will color shift. also the fogs are projectors which also affects color near the upper cutoff (refraction). all 3 HID kits are the same exact model and brand w/ different bulbs sizes.

Just lookin out for ya man. I dont know all of the inspection guidelines for NY. But i dont think your car will pass if your hids are giving off too much of a glare. Last inspection i had, the prick was giving me shit over one of my headlights not lining up exactly like the other.

im not really sure how inspections are in ny, but my dad knows a guy who makes sure our cars pass no matter what. he had a 90something taurus pass without even having an engine installed, so im not worried about inspections

All you have to do is swap in your halogens when its time for an inspection. Should only take 5-10mins to do this. I've had HIDs for 5 years and not once have i ever had a problem w/ inspection.....at least not for headlights

Like previously stated, 12000 are gonna be really purple. I agree with Reelax. I have 8000 in my headlights now and they're real white/blue. Personally I think purple heads and fogs are gonna look kinda ricey and decrease your visibility.

well iv pretty much convinced not to go 12000k now. if i go 10000k heads should i get 10000k fogs or 8000k fogs. and if i go 8000k heads should i go 8000k fogs or 6000k fogs

i like the look of teh 12000k but i agree that visibility should be at least somewat of a concern....i advise you to go around 8000k for heads and fogs if you want them matched i have 8000k hids heads in my projectors and yellow bulbs in my fogs and i actually get a little better light from the fogs and i love the look if you considered something like that also like bluestreaks pics

if ur gonna do heads and fogs in HID, buy the 2 kits at the SAME time from the SAME brand, otherwise they have a very small chance of matching. also, do not mix projectors w/ reflector housing as the color of the light you see when looking at the car will look different. mine are mixed in both housing design and age so they will never match completely.

12000k will be soo purple.. if you just want bright white.. 5000-6000k usually does it depending on the manufacturer.

dont bother going over 8000k liek reelax said .. the lumens (light actually seen on the road) goes down the higher"K" you go, I suggest 6500k for the headlights and 8000k in the fogs
