First i wanted blue bulbs to go with my blue neons. It was Great!! Except for the speedometer needle wasn't lit up at the tip. (I used Sharpie)

The second time i used those same bulbs(Cleaned off the sharpie with fingernail polish remover) but i colored them red. It was brighter than the blue, but i want stock brightness or brighter.

Nighthawk makes a 194 bulb and it says it is supposed to be brighter than stock. Should i get those along with the bulb gel caps, or "bulb condoms" as ya'll like to call 'em, or just go with a L.E.D. bulb that has a wide light?

if you have factory gauge faces, i'd go with an incandescant. but blue incandescant is pretty dim. you can go LED but if you're really anal about it, you might see hot spots.

if you have aftermarket powered indiglo gauges, you should be fine with led's. they're cheap, they last long.

by hot spots he means various areas of brightness and dimness, not temperature wise

I was thinking of replacing my instrument panel bulbs with some 194 LED's as well.
I haven't done it yet because I am noyt sure if the LED's could be dimmed like the standard bulbs? I tried it with a standard Radio Shack LED and it did not work.
Maybe some one who has done this switch already can answere this question for me. Thanks.
