will a mivec V6 from an FTO powerplant from japan fit our G??? if i'm not mistaken it's a 6a12 mivec.. i found one going for about $1200 with tranny and all the harnesses.. power ranges from 170-200 hps.. worth it?? it's stock... don't know if it's turbo friendly too.. but it's a mivec..

Yeah it will fit. The Jap spec 8G had a factory MIVEC 6A12 engine.

MIVEC is 200HP while non MIVEC DOHC 6A12 is 170HP.

The USDM 8G is different from the JDM and World spec 8G's

doubt it will fit right in. Ask Mante about it.

Actually theres a good chance that it might. The mounting positions are very similiar.

Also IMO a non-turbo 6a12 swap is worthless.

Pfft a DOHC MIVEC 200hp 6A12 is alot better than your SOHC 4G63 or 4G64 :P

But yeah if you are going to go through all that trouble for a V6 you might as well go 6A13 twin turbo.

I thought the only mechanical differences for a US spec Galant would be the front suspension being macpherson strut instead of multi link (why would they do that anyway?).

I notice they did the same for the 2nd generation Diamante (95-2000 model in Japan, unsure what years in the US) too.

if you want a v6 get a 6g74 out of the diamante, it fits in our cars. boostzealot has one in his car, waiting to get numbers back on what it puts out in our cars. check out his thread https://www.thegalantcenter.org/viewtopic.php?t=54252

if you go with JDM engines if something breaks, how easy will you be able to get parts?

true that.. but finding a turbo kit on a 74 might be the struggle.. i live in Guam and it's next to japan and phillipines where all jdms are at.. the reason i posted this is because, my last trip to japan i saw one on the listing goin really cheap with tranny.. but boostalot had a V6.. i've got an I4.. but heck if i can find an evo engine then why not.. or maybe just an Evo head atleast.. i'll keep on searching.

When you can bore and stroke the 74 to 4.1 Liters who needs turbo.
