Just trying to see if it will work because I know the guys at Club3g have done it...

I have seen that alot of the RS guys in that forum are getting the tiptronic assembly as well as the tiptronic ECU and swapping it onto their cars... now my question is this...

We have the same tranny and motor of the Eclipse correct? So couldn't we just swap the shifter assebly and replace our ECU with the tiptronic ECU of the Eclipse and convert the Auto tranny to the tiptronic tranny?

Basicly the parts needed to do the swap are:
-Sporty ECU
-Immobilizer
- Shifter assembly

well, if theire five-spped tranny's work, maybe their tiptronics would.. try it out... I havent seen any G's try to swap that in.

Icedout....

You can do the sportronic swap for around $150...

I guess it can be an alternative for the people who can't do the tranny swap just yet....

Only problem I'm seeing is that the center console is different from ours theire you might need to replace our middle console with the one of the Eclipse with some mods so that the shifter assembly make fit correctly...

Save your $150 for something else.

GalantMan...

In www.club3g.com they are always parting out 3g's and you can basically get the whole sportonic swap for $100 - $250...

Jat Black, my option to do a 5 peed swap right now is very minimal due to financial situations so therefore this is as close as it is going to get for a year or 2...

Just use L23D its not any quicker in shifting, swap the valve body and you'll be set.

It wasn't in the Spyder that I drove that had it. My friend's got a 2001 Spyder that she let's me drive when she comes down. The sportonic never gets used unless I use it though. She just puts it in drive and goes. Maybe I can talk her into letting us swap all the parts so I can get her sportonic and she can get my standard auto. I doubt it would happen, but it would be nice if it could.

It is very laggy, its just as laggy if you were to manually shift your regular AT galant shifter from L to 2 to D its just as laggy as that. My girl had a 01 GS sporty, it drove like a total shit box.

IIRC the 3Gs dont have a setup like ours. They just have D and tiptronic. We CAN shift like the tiptronics because have all the gears available to us.

With that said, swapping in a tiptronic just became a hundred times more meaningless.

:?: yea I was wondering the samething we have the 1,2,3,D, but hasn't it been said not to shift it like a manual cause it ruins the tranny? if thats the cause how does tiptronic not mess up the tranny?

but won't you have to use the same torque converter.. it's still gonna be a torque converter no matter what.

Just get the manual and hire someone to shift for you on command. lol
