Hey guys, Im new on here but not new to the custom car scene. I have seen a few cars such as older maximas, passats and a word I hate to use hondas with exhaust that exits out of the side skirt. I was wondering if anyone has seen/heard of this on a Galant, I am looking to send it out right infront of the driver side rear wheel.

IMO. Only if its a track car.

How or where would you fit the muffler cause if you plan to exclude it you may need alot of dynamat.

Good luck with it though.

i can be done and really shouldnt be too expensive but i would check you local laws its more then likely not allowed and if you can get away with it i would also check your sound laws considering that setup probroblly wouldnt have a muffler on it

I agree with Seth on the track part first off. I do think it would be quite costly to do it right. You should have a muffler on it or it would not be street legal and sound terrible most likely. That would be the trick is how to fit a muffler inline and do the piping to the side. Without looking I would say some clearance issues would come into play and you would have to go low with the piping which would probably not look all that good. I don't know, I think side exits are cool on like a Mustang, not a G though.

Not if the galant was caged and blew fire out said pipe.

I think you should make it exit on the passenger side, that way it blows noise directly at those who have pissed you off, so you can make your presance known as you full throttle it blowing hot exhaust in thier face all while giving the finger out the sunroof.

Just like a noob to post a new topic and not even chime in after all the responses. ok ok ... There is a guy on the .org that has a false exhaust with a muffler and then a real exhaust with no restrictions (cat, muffler, ect).. if you do a side exit exhaust I would do it behind the rear wheel

Yeah it would be easy without a muffler and behind the rear wheels. It would still sound like ass and still ricey.

I believe an Ford Aerostar muffler would probably be a pretty good inline muffler to start with as far as sound. Still dont know exaclty how it would look. Definetly not on my car but you do you 8)

Hope you like wincing everytime you get on the pedal. If you want a small taste of what it sounds like, take your muffler off (really easy to do).

Why don't you get a cut-out? You would get good gains but still stay legal when your on the street. Well, as long as its closed. Or are you looking to get side-exit for cosmetic purpose?

heres why you don't do it:

won't pass inspection
sound like ass
burn the side of your car
a muffler or glasspack underneath would make that sound like shit
lose power

why you would do it:

you don't give a shit about what I said above

I have no exhaust past the final cat, I could legally run a side exhaust without problem. Imagine the car in the sig with a rectangle shaped exhaust just in front of the rear wheel nascar style.

It sounds freaking awesome

If I can run around with it dumping at my feet, I think you´d be fine with it exiting further back

You wont lose power, period

Inspection, well that depends on where you live, I happen to live in a state that doesnt do inspections, however, Its not required that I have a muffler at all, but I still have my cats so thats not a problem. I know cali wont let you run without a muffler, however thats a load of shit.

what's wrong with being semi-innovative? who wrote the rules on what you can do to a galant?
