I’ve been busy this month and the weather here in Boston is sucks but the carpc is almost done.... im have a problem on my OS the CD is broken :( i have the CD key i just need the cd :?

very nice, i plan on doing the same thing once i get a job so i can get a screen, probably going to use one of my P3 or P2 computers

ya that would suck to have to change gears to put a cd in. though u have a harddrive and probably an iPod anyway

how much did it run you for just the computer?

so far just the computer $250....

can you make me 1!!! i'll give you the 250$ and what type of output is on the computer rca video? thats what i would need caz i got a touch screen clarion

It is VGA output, u need a monitor with vga and usb so the touchscreen will work. check out www.xenarc.com

I so want to do this. I'm thinking of putting a full size ATX mb in the spare tire area of my trunk. Put plexiglass or something over top, add a few lights and I'll have something unique to show off in the trunk.

My only worry is that the subs will try to shake the connections loose.

Also, what program are you using to play mp3s? And has anyone thought about hooking their carputer to the engine sensors for monitoring/recording purposes? Anyone know how to connect the OBDII system to their 'puter? Just some thoughts on how to make it so a carputer is doing more than just playing mp3s, videos and loading navigation maps (you know, things that a store-bought DVD player with navigation could do?).

EDIT - oh yeah, has anyone here tried using Linux instead of Windows?

dude i love linux, its awsome, takes a little while to get ised to but once your past that its awsome, im running ubuntu linux on my dell laptop

i've done the plexi with the trunk and it came out great... i displayed my amp and had hifonics light up in blue

The have special OBDII devices that connect via USB so you can do all of that... www.mp3car.com

i got the sensors at ebay for $70 then i just installed them by my self.

aiight this is definitely interesting.. first of all what software is loaded onto the carpc in order to do the navigation.. is that a free service.. is it executable thought windows xp or something. where is it donwloaded?! good job btw!

its free service but you need to buy the software and GPS Receiver.

i have Microsoft Street and Trips 2007 and iGuidance.
