Its soo weird that the JDM 8g's share the same suspension and motor mount configuration as the 2g eclipse.

Yah it is. I bet you wish your Galant was like that.

Now the next things are the microtech, intercooler pipes and exhaust pipes to put the car back to work

I can't wait to see the final outcome.

Im curious would the JDM 6 cylinder DOHC VR-4 engine have been a direct swap into that car?

will the driverside engine mount hold up.. don't look too reliable from that pic..

If it had the 2.5 non turbo V6 then yes the VR-4 engine would have mounted up perfectly....

So correct me if I'm wrong here, they took the V6 out and put the 4cyl in?

You do realise that as it's a heavier car, with the 4cyl in it, it's not going to have the get up and go you might expect. The V6 has far more torque and is an easier swap to do....

^^^^ what way heavier???? wouldn't the engine be the only difference along with the front suspension??

guys are swapping in the 4g63t 2.0L DOHC (evo VI-IX, 260hp+ ) motor into there galants over here because that motor is stock w/ almost 130% more power than our 6g72 3.0L SOHC (USDM, 195hp). the world spec NA V6's have even less power than that so it would be an even more desirable swap. now the JDM 6a13t (8G JDM VR4 2.5L DOHC) would probably be the best swap for the NA JDM 8G, but finding (or converting) a FWD tranny for it is the problem. the 3G eclipse 5speed tranny is bolt on to both the USDM 8g platform and the appropriate evo engine.

I would think you would have an easier time finding a transmission for a VR-4 engine than you would trying to swap and fit in a foreign engine.

Yes, but he said the stock 2.5l V6, which would be a 6A13 non turbo, in which case either bolting on a single turbo or doing the VR-4 swap would have been the more viable option.

I ment the galant is a heavier car than the Evo they are getting the engines from...
I'm all for people doing conversions etc, it's great to see so many options out there, but then I also have my own personal preferance as to what I would do with certian mods and limitations....

The v6 2.5l has only 167 hp, and it was automatic, the engine need an overhaul so my friend took it out and put the 4g63 i think it has 210hp, so with the v6 that has 167hp the car rides pretty fast, now with this 4g63 and soon with a bigger turbo and the microtech it will be a BIG diffence

Sounds fair enough.... good luck :D

My car started life with 240hp or there abouts, it's now puttung out about 320hp or there abouts, to be honest, I don't really notice much difference

wow, thats crazy! 1st gen 4G63T(6GGalantVR4-EVOIII/DSM90-99) into a 8G Galant. a lot of welding and fabricating I bet. If it was me, I would've just used the gen 2 4G63T(EVOIV-EVOIX) because 260hp>220hp
