on the speaker itself it has 4 connectors and two banana plugs.i heard there is two ways i can wire them up. one way was wiring the two banana plus negitive and negitve,and positive to positve.then runnign speaker wire from the outter neg and pos to the amp and that would push 2 ohms. the otha way was wire the banana plug in the inner two neg and pos and then wire the speaker wire the same way,which would push 8 ohms. i ahve a kenwood 8152d mono amp. what way should i hook it up?the 1st way right?

Well, if your amp is 2ohm stable and you leave your amplifiers gains at 50% then yeah. However I wouldn't wire your speakers in parrallel if you like to run your amps gains all the way up.

If depends also on how much power the speaker can handle.

What size alpine type r did you buy?

With the specs on the amp and the speaker I'd wire it just as you thought.

Parrallel on the speaker to the amp.
