The only things that have changed since the time pix were taken(1 month ago) i have sold the lambo door kit, as my mates did not know how to use them and banged the shit out of em all the time trying to open them normal way, also i had a little crash that forced me to change the nosecut of my car, and soon i will buy a front bodykit to make it look sexy again. 8) 8) 8)

its a 1.8 liter tiptronic, so far no engine mods, but i got the car pretty cheap considering it had done only 99000kms, now its 108000kms and i still love it.
Now i have seen a lot of posts where people have converted their automatic galants to manua, would it be the same for tiptronic galant, and is it possible at all???

Welcome dude, good to see another Kiwi here :D

what are the specs on a galant gdi??? but VELKOM bro!! looks sweet!!

1.8 I4, Gasoline direct inject, same spec as alot of the other 8g's interior wise, Smooth ride from factory, nice family car really.
Pretty poor power wise unless you live in Japan and use their 103 octane fuel... they cause alot of problems here in NZ as our fuel is dirtier than most of the world. Most mitsubishi mechanics would tell you to stay well away from it, it's really one of thoes engines that never should have been let outside of Japan. Usually needs to have the injectors and transmission flushed about once every 1-2 years.
You can however turn the GDI eco mode off if you wish, which actually opens it up alot.

well as far as the 5spd not sure if the trany's we use would bolt up i doubt it, but if there is another car that shares your engine that comes 5 spd then its possible...i thought you could buy the vrg 5 spd not sure

I thought lots of people on here got those kind of taillights??? i know i do lol
as for GDI have no idea how to turn it off.

And those mags are 17x7, but the tyers are a bit smaller, would not know why, one thing i know for sure is that its the only set looks like that here in NZ, as was brought from USA 8)

They want your JDM (Factory) ones ;)

As for the wheels.... they look really similar to a set of Work wheels I have.... I'll get a pic, they are damn nice wheels though :D

as for the factory taillights, i have sold them ages ago, i like the shape and performance of galant, drives very smoothly and stylish...

Here is another question of the day. Is it the same to replace tiptronic transmission to a 5 speed manual as automatic transmission, or do i have to sweat a lot more to get there??? :(

Goku
03-15-2007, 12:58 AM
Basically it's the same, but I think ( don't quote me ) you have to replace the ECU on that model..

the wheels I was talkin about....

NZGALANTBOY
03-15-2007, 04:10 AM
oh yeah the wheels look kinda same, but not alike and that is allready a difference, they dont look exaclty like the once i have 8)
even the tyers are american maid...

Goku
03-15-2007, 01:12 PM
Yea, little differences make them unique :D

Mine are Japanese, Rims and tires... I only keep them as a spare set 8)

Have decided to make my cars breathing a BIT EASIER, SO ORDERED SOME POD FILTERS TO GO ONTO THE ENGINE, PACKAGE CONSISTS OF 1 MAIN POD FILTER AND 3 SMALL BREATHERS TO MAKE LIFE A BIT EASIER...1 THING THAT ANNOYS ME THOUGH, AFTER REMOVING THE FILTER BOX, WHEN YOU TURN A STEERING WHEEL THIS POPPING SOUND IS COMING OUT OF THE AIR FLOW METER, I THOUGHT ITS ONLY MY CAR BUT THEN REMOVD THE AIRBOX FROM MY MATES CAR AND IT MAKES THE DSAME SOUND

Goku
03-17-2007, 04:41 AM
Where did you get the pod kit from ?

You should only need 1 breather and the pod for your car :)

As for the popping noise, I have never heard it before.... what kind of car is your mates ?

NZGALANTBOY
03-17-2007, 04:54 AM
my mates is same one as mine vrg galant, and i got the filter kit on trademe for $40

Goku
03-17-2007, 04:56 AM
Hmmmm..... odd
Might just be a GDI thing....

Send me a link to the kit, does it have the right connection for the weird ass AFM size the mitsubishi's have?

NZGALANTBOY
03-19-2007, 07:00 AM
Finally have found a cheap alternative for my new front, there is one on trademe, the font goes for $380 i have seen it somewhere on this website someone had the similar bamper, could you please post some pix for me as i want to see what it looks like on other cars???

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=91736070

Goku
03-19-2007, 05:10 PM
Thats the most common kit for them on the net it seems....

I think redgalant1 had a similar front on his one

NZGALANTBOY
03-21-2007, 12:33 AM
OK since i got attached to the bodykit, i decided to go for it and 1 hour later i have a front piece for my car, here are some new pix and also a pic of my Pod Filter as it sits now in the engine, geting used to its new home...Since i have crashed my car i have replaced the nosecut, and primed my bamper due to it being bend. The pix are of the car as it is now.

Next on the list is Battery relocation.
