Rear Brakes

As an estimate how long does it take before the rear brake would need to be replaced? I know a lot has to do with driving style and what not but I was just curious. We have about 80k on our 03 and have not had them changed.

Do you have rear drums or discs? I know that I have only replaced my rear "shoes" (since I have drums) only 1x. And I have 77k miles. They dont really wear fast. They last a while. But did u buy the car brand new? With 80k miles and never changind the rear brakes, I would do it soon. You dont have anything to loose. 80k miles is a lot.

I have drums on the rear, yes we bought the car new, I don't think i'll wanna do those myself, how much should a rear brake job run me?

It all depends on who you go to. I know my local mechanic only charged me $40 (for labor, i bought the brakes) But prolly if you go to like a midas or something it will run around $100

I have a local mechanic that we have been going to for years, so I will probably go to them my family has been going to them for years and they are always good to us so i will probably take it to them, I just wanted to be sure I was getting a good price, where did you buy yours from think you can link me to the right parts that i need. You have been a big help to me today!

No problem any time.... I went to my local auto zone to buy the brakes for the drums. But for my front brakes I have axxiss/pbr front brake pads. They are really good have have good stopping power. here is the link: (FOR THE FRONT). But for the rears U think i have Bendix of Duralast. I am thinking about doing the rear drum to disc swap soon.

I am assuming drums came standard on the galants right, I am just assuming I have drums in the rear I have never really looked.

I know that all Galant models ES and DE have rear drums. I know that the GTZ model comes with rear discs instead of drums. And maybe the LS models all come with rear discs but not positive on that. And i think the V6's also come with rear discs.
