I know everyone talked about the newer eclipse rims.. But what about the older ones, the 17's that looks like this:

Would they be worth getting considering the guy is sellign them for 250 and they are in good condition? And im sure i can get them for 200 ....
And i'm dropped so the gap shouldnt be that big of a deal.... Any thoughts?

225/40/17 should be fine.

225/45r17. 40 series is too short.

If you plan on lowering the vehicle ever get 225/45-17s, if not get 215/50-17s (Which btw should be a little bit cheaper too).

Ah...well then your best choice is 225/45-17s. Remember you may have to roll the rear fenders.
