5sp transmission dead, hude hole in the casing

ok i didnt post anything till today, i finally found some time, this happened past thursday night after i was coming home from work.. I was driving minding my own business, then all of a sudden i noticed that my clutch pedal feels very soft... i was like hmmm ok i know my fluid is very dark and its time to change it, then i also noticed my speedometer going crazy, jumping all over the place! i was like wtf!! then it dropped to zero and stayed there. so, i finally made my self get up early in the morning on friday to change the clutch pedal fluid and try to resolve the speedo problem.. i get under m y car and there is a huge puddle of gear oil!!! no idea how did it happen it just did!! i wasnt racing on a way home. i didnt speed shift it just happen, so dont ask me cuz i am clueless. but here is a pic after i pulled the tranny out..

Sucks man, maybe the speed sensor broke apart or the diff could have exploded.

is the clutch still in tact? flywheel didn't come apart or anythign?

i suspect your differential grenaded. by the damge shown.
remember all that wheel hop you would get when you launch?
or those times you barked tires going into 2nd gear?

yeah its all possible! i will be more careful next time.... yeah there is NO damage to the flyweel nor the clutch....

if you haven't yet,

install the full prothane motor mount kit while you have yoru tranny out.
this will end wheel hop,

you might even consider getting the slowboy lsd.

dam that sucks.... I installed one prothane insert kit on the back motor mount and was rough driving around, but bearable....

I took it out cause I liked the smooth feel of the stock motor mount but looking at these pics will make me put them back in....

guys thank you for all the effort the 7g has over 130k on it, plus i am gettign a new job soon, i will need to get something more reliable...2008 lancer is a possibility!!! i will stay within the family...i am on the way to mitsu dealer in 10 min....some of the parts that i have on the galant will be sold....i may keep the wheelz becuase i have brand new tires on there only 95 miles!!! if i can get em on the new lancer i will do just that! but if not the wheelz are 500.00 with brand new tires kuhmo ecsta stp 215/40/17 i will be posting a thread soon for slae parts, so be on the look out.

dude trannys are so easy to come buy up here. $150 and its done with. i guess you just probably want a new car. good luck with whatever you do
