Never judge a book by it's cover. You never know, the kid might be very mature for his age and the STi was bought from him working and working. Or maybe his dad is rich. You never know

unlike most of the kids around here. he is actually grateful for having it. he doesnt treat it like shit like most of the kids around here with $35,000 plus cars. ive seen a girl wreck her $50,000 BMW that she got for her birthday on purpose because she wanted a Benz. its sad really it is. but he used to drive a POS avalon before this and he got it for graduation from his grandparents for doing good in school

as for the integra its a beast if u havent seen it already from previous posts. it has a stripped interior drag radials and is making about 333hp at the wheels. its stupid fast. the STi on the other hand is making around 400+ (he bought it modded) and it cant keep up!

I'm not blaming the kid. He doesn't know any better. He's also not the only one, but the whole "buying your child a car" is a good example of poor parenting, and it starts a lot sooner than when they're old enough to drive. Eating at the table, leaving the dinner table before they've finished eating their meal, amount of allowance, so on and so forth. I blame the parents. Just because you can afford to purchase an excessive vehicle, doesn't mean you should.
And it really shows when you see these kids out in society, even when they're older. You tell them to do something, instead they argue with you. You ask them for a favor, and they expect to be rewarded. It's all about "me" and short-term consequences. I'm sure you're thinking of one example right now that just happened recently.

My first vehicle was a motorcycle in Japan. It wasn't a brand new crotch-rocket. It was a used, small engine, naked style motorcycle. Could my parents have afforded a crotch-rocket? Yes. But instead, we chose something that
(a) I could ride to school everyday. Not a moped because they can't climb steep hills that we have. Don't need a Hayabusa for this task either.
(b) Was in good condition, enough to last me the two years that I was going to ride it for.
(c) Warranted the price tag
For all the above, the motorcycle was picked.
I rode it everyday, to school, to work, for fun. I even crashed it and payed money out of my own pocket to get it fixed. I was the one who crashed it, not them.
Now it's just sitting in my parents' garage. Just like planned, only used it for 2 years.

As for rewarding kids for doing the obvious, absolutely ridiculous.
I went to driving school. My reward? My motorcycle license.
Graduating high school? My high school diploma.

Anyhow. It's unhealthy to be ranting on a Saturday morning. Although the motorcycle talk did bring back some good memories. :)

not entirely true. My dad bought me my first car in the philippines when I was 10. But, you cant say my dad is a bad parent because if you knew what Ive been through and actually knew me you'd know my parents raised me right.

This is the point where you should shut up and stop trying to place stereotyped assumptions on people you don't know. Sounds like some jealousy has kicked in and you can't control it; you know nothing about the owner and you just assume since he may be younger than you that he doesn't appreciate it or know the value of a dollar???? Then you say EVERYONE these days wants a reward?? Come on now, your argument is about as useful as a $5 gas voucher. Don't assume, because you look like an ass and it's more people supporting me.

theres people that are like what u say joe. but not everyone who gets a car from their parents. believe it or not, everyone is different in this society. my mom bought my galant brand new. and to me, buying a used car that u have no idea what it has gone threw sounded stupid over a car that has been with u over the past few years. yeah i got my car free of charge from my parents. but that doesnt mean i dont appreciate it, and all that is put into my car ive done myself, me and all my friends all drive really nice cars that you wouldnt expect 17, 18, and 19 year olds to drive. we get this all the time about how we're just spoiled. i almost dont want to post pics of all the cars in my group of friends becasue there has been so much controversy over just these four cars. and its even worse on club3g! i dont know what would happen if i showed u a 03 cobra, 95 supra tt, 06gti 05 rx-8. or an s2000 all owned by kids under 20. some of these cars we have we worked for some we didnt but we do deserve them because well... somehow we ended up in a place in life where we earned it and we treat them like the cars they are

My parents bought me my first car to though i didnt get to choose it. Actually they have bought me two cars seeing as stuff keeps happening. My first car was a 91 Honda accord that my mom had and she bought herself a new car and i got heres. Then some one got into highspeed chase and ramped into it and the engine got busted up so the gave me my moms car and it was a 98 Ford Taurus and she got herself a new 01 taurus as the 98 was screwing up anyways then i fixed it up sold it and bought my g! that i found for 1,000! and i wouldnt say that just cause your parents buy you a car you will have those problems though i think other things need to be done along the way as im a Eagle scout and have been in the boyscouts of america since i was like 3 so i have learned things on managment, respect, and doing a good turn with no thank you expected.

but the whole "buying your child a car" is a good example of poor parenting

Heh. My mistake. Nothing wrong with purchasing a car for your child. My parents bought me my motorcycle and my car.
I was reffering to the WRX shown above, as being an excessive purchse for an 18 year old. It's called spoiling your kid.
It should've read "buying your child an excessive car" or something along those lines. It was early in the morning, I didn't catch it.

This is the point where you should shut up and stop trying to place stereotyped assumptions on people you don't know.

You are rude and taking this personally.

you just assume since he may be younger than you that he doesn't appreciate it or know the value of a dollar????

No. Why are you talking about his age in comparison with mine? I could be 10 years younger than him or 50 years older. It wouldn't make a difference how old I am. It still doesn't change his age.

Then you say EVERYONE these days wants a reward??

Again, no I did not say that.

you look like an ass

You know what. I give up. I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I disagree with parents who spoil their kids. Plain and simple. I'm not stereotyping all young kids whose parents bought them expensive cars as unappreciative, or are bad kids. I was talking about the ones who are.

lonestar22, I'm not attacking you at all. I've lurked here long enough to know that you do take care of your car and you enjoy what you do. That's awesome. You even have a group of friends that enjoy cars. Even better.

In a nutshell, I wanted to say that you shouldn't spoil your kids. I don't see any good coming out of it.
And please don't take anything personally. I have nothing against any one of you, and I always give people a chance.
Again I realise that I made a mistake in my initial post, so if that threw you off, I apologise.

I'd believe that, there's a turbo teg here thats pushing 300+kw. I'm not suprised the WRX can't keep up, though that shape is reasonably slow due to the weight.
If it were one of the earlier WRX's, say a ver3 STi with that much HP, then the Teg would struggle to keep up.
